Since altered states of consciousness are well, altered, it’s hard for me to
remember what they were. I do know that I woke up one night to find that I had just been
sleepwalking. It freaked my mom out, but I did have a feeling that I was walking, but I
thought it was a dream the entire time.
Another altered state of consciousness that I know that I’ve had was when I had
my wisdom teeth taken out. I chose to be put under with anesthesia so I don’t remember
anything, because I didn’t dream, but that would mean that I wasn’t technically “asleep”
right? Apparently though I did talk and I did start crying for some odd reason. I also had
a strong urge to relieve my bladder when I woke up after the surgery.
When I wake up in the morning, I suppose I could be in an altered state of
consciousness. I am only semiconscious and I can’t really concentrate. Bright lights hurt
my eyes and I can’t walk very well, my legs feel funny. I’m not sure if that would be
considered an altered state of consciousness though.
