Alternative Energy and Environmental Health
What do you think alternative energy really
is? Something that only requires the sun to function
correctly? Or maybe its just a windmill on a farm in
Runescape? Well what alternative energy really is is
energy that is manmade, used to not hurt the
environment. The purpose of what alternative
energy is is to reduce a significant amount of carbon
dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and sulphur dioxide. Those
three gases are what cause the Earth to be like a
living hell, making gas not being able to leave the
Earths atmosphere. This article will explain the
reason of alternative energy and the benefits of it,
not just environmental wise, but as well as personal
health.

Global climate change is such a huge

problem in current day due to Earth trapping in heat.
The heat is not being able to go anywhere but roam
freely on the Earth. According to the IPCC
(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change),
forecasts temperature raised from 2.5 to 10 degrees

Fahrenheit over the century (by Holly Shaftel,

Randal Jackson and Laura Tenenbaum, 2016). Due
to the average heat temperature rising, it makes loss
of sea ice; sea level raises faster and longer, and
more intense heat waves. Additionally, ice on rivers
and lakes are breaking up earlier, plants and animals
range have shifted and trees are flowering sooner,
that may cause an evolution sooner than expected.
Greenhouse gases, pollution, are polluting
the environment. All these are areas are affected and
must be considered when producing energy for
everyday needs. Coal, oil, natural gas, and all
common sources of energy, are nonrenewable. Once
these energies have been thoroughly checked, it is
ready to be used. A completely new source must be
found. These fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and
natural gas are known as non-renewable, so defined,
as they cannot be replaced easily than expected.
While renewable energy sources such as wind and
solar power do cost more money than regular (nonrenewable) energy produced by fossil fuels, they do
have a much more beneficial effect on the
environment as they give off little to no greenhouse
gases and are continually refill itself again. Fossil
fuels are fossils formed over millions of years, while
these alternative sources are produced every day by
wind and the sun. These renewable energy sources
are capable of working successfully due to the many
benefits that can be attained by using them.

While producing alternative energy, less greenhouse

gas is being discharged. It is saving the environment
from climate changes, such as global warming.
Pollution is becoming a rising issue as greenhouse
gas levels rise in the atmosphere from long-term
dependence on fossil fuels. Long-term effects of (air
and water) pollution, including global increase in
temperature, which harms wildlife and increases sea
levels. This increase in temperature harms many
different forms of life, such as polar bears and
penguins (since the majority live on ice) . Their
homes are starting to melt away as the higher
temperatures are disturbing their normal lifestyle.
On the contrary, renewable energy sources emit
close to none when it comes to greenhouse gases.
Cutting down on harmful gas emissions will benefit
the environment in the long run, and such
adaptations to renewable energy are the beginning
steps to reducing pollution.
High price cost has long been an issue when
discussing alternative energies, but now as more and
more methods of using them are discovered, the
price continues to drop. The price for using
alternative energy is coming close to the current
prices of coal and other fossil fuels. The prices of
these energy sources will continue to drop in price
due to the fact that they are renewable, unlike fossil
fuels, which take millions of years to form. Further
research has also been taking place, improving
current alternative energies and also decreasing their
cost. More money put into funding new energy
sources will make it look more appealing to the
public, as there will be clear advantages of using
alternative energy.

We use energy every day for a lot of different

things. These things range from entertainment,
lighting, heating, cooking, transportation and
manufacturing. In most part of the world, we
consume an immense amount of energy. In society,
today people consume about one fourth of the
world's energy resources and without considering
the effects of using so much. There is energy that is
produced from non-renewable resources such as
fuels. When these are produced, they supply heating
in houses we live in and our daily transportation.
Although, these things sound good and useful these
non-renewable fuels causes pollution and
contaminates the air (air pollution). The air that is
contaminated is the air we breathe and need to
survive everyday. The water resources can also be
contaminated as well. We don't consider these things
when using the resources because the benefit is seen
to be much greater than health and stability. When
we take road trips or just drive inner city we release
more pollution into the air. It is a constant cycle
seeing that a large percentage of people in the
United States owns at least one car per household. In
today's society everyone needs and wants their own
vehicle.

There are many other ways to offer and do things to

change from these resources, and one of those
changes is from non-renewable resources to
renewable resources. When making these changes it
isnt always easy as it seems, like flicking a light
switch, or wrist. Most would say that a lot of bad
habits die-hard and people hate changes, especially
when it's working in their favor. People use different
things such as solar energy, biofuels and wind as
renewable resources that do have good outcomes in
the environment. The first renewable energy is wind

energy. There are turbines to replace the bad in wind

energy. Wind is something that is naturally
uncontrolled. It goes at the rate it wants. Then, there
is solar energy. Solar energy works from the sun.
When the sun isn't out there is no solar energy to
consume and this limits the use of good solar
energy.

In conclusion, there are a major variety of choices

for alternative energy. Solar, geothermal, biomass,
wind, and hydropower are all available for use. The
choices are not only limited to coal, oil, and natural
gas. As the economy grows, fossil fuels will not be
important for energy needs as the fossil fuels start to
be limited and then completely drained. The need to
find new energy sources is rising, making renewable
energy sources a rising option. The future holds
many challenges; one of them is being secure in the
supply of energy. With this, new sources for energy
must be implemented in order to replace the fossil
fuels that are running out.
