Mexican Americans contributions to the U.S

Chris Kotschwar

Mexican Americans have made many of contributions to the United States, some are
very important and some arent as much. I believe that the most important contribution
that Mexican Americans have made to the United States is that many of them joined our
army to fight for many wars and battles. One of the more major wars that they took part
in was World War II in which it is estimated that over 500,000 Mexican Americans either
volunteered or where drafted into the army. Some of the reasons it is said that the
Mexican Americans signed up for the war are that some wanted some adventure, some
wanted to escape from discrimination at home, some of them signed up because either
their friends or family members enlisted, others did so because their families expected
them to contribute to the war and even some of them signed up because of their pride
and for a sense of manhood.
Another Contribution that Mexican Americans have given the United States is that they
make up 10.6% of the 34.6 million Americans in the United States. That is a lot of
people that are Mexican Americans living in the U.S. Mexican Americans help in
everyday American jobs such as clerks at banks and other everyday jobs. Mexican
Americans have made many contributions to the United States and I am very glad that I
got to study them and to learn about them.
