VII. LEARNING ACTIVITIES:
A. The Holy Spirit is the name of the third person in the Trinity. Jesus
promised the Apostles that he would send the Holy Spirit after his
crucifixion and resurrection:
B. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are enumerated in Isaiah 11:2-3. They
are present in their fullness in Jesus Christ but are found in all
Christians who are in a state of grace. We receive them when we are
infused with sanctifying grace, the life of God within usas, for
example, when we receive a sacrament worthily.
The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit
1. Wisdom gives us the ability to properly value those things we believe
through faith.
2. Understanding Allows us to comprehend the importance of our
Catholic Faith
3. Counsel gives us the ability to do the right thing at the right time.
4. Fortitude gives us strength and courage to follow through on the
actions suggested by the gift of counsel.
5. Knowledge Knowledge allows us to see the circumstances in our life
just as God wants us to see them.
6. Piety the willingness to serve and worship God.
7. Fear of the Lord -- gives us the desire not to offend God. It is also the
certainty that God will supply us the grace that we need in order to
keep us from offending Him.
