February is here...

Wow, its hard to believe that February is here! The family project for February is to create a Valentine box for our fun Valentine exchange!
In Language Arts we are working on the following skills: speaking to others respectfully and in complete sentences so that meaning is conveyed, identifying fact and fiction, reading with expression, asking/answering questions about essential narrative elements, identifying story structure (beginning, middle, end), matching all consonant and short vowel sounds to appropriate letter, and
blending sounds to read new words. We continue to work on correct letter formation, capitalization, punctuation, and proper spacing between words. We have finished our informational writing on
penguins and will begin persuasive/opinion writing soon!
In Math we are working on adding and subtracting. We will be
learning counting strategies to help us with our facts and how to build number combinations up to 10 (ex.: 4+3=7; 5+2=7; 6+1=7). Students will also practice solving addition
and subtraction word (story) problems. We continue to practice counting by 1s, 5s and
10s to 100 and by 2s to 20.
In Health we are studying about dental health. Dr. Keleske will be visiting to talk
about good hygiene and how to have healthy teeth!

Lincoln for our Presidents Day unit.

Science is all about Rocks and Soil. We will have an awesome in-school field trip with
Diamond Dell who will show us how to mine rocks and gems. Students will get to keep
the ones they mine!
