I communicated well with my instructor, nurse, and other students. I kept my instructor
and nurse updated with my patients status and any change in condition. (Number 4:

I provided safe nursing care by following the agency policies of making sure my patient
was secure in his crib (no way they could fall out) when no one was in the room.

I observed an NG tube being inserted into a patient, as well as, the cleaning and set up
of a feeding tube and central line. (Number 5: Professional Role Development)
Performed evidence based practice by washing my hands before entering patients room
and when leaving. I put on the proper protective equipment when my patient was on

At UVA, I documented my patients vital signs, I/O, and respiratory assessment

Developed a therapeutic relationship with my patient by setting aside time to get him out
of his crib and play with him on the floor using appropriate developmental aged toys.

At Second Home, I develop and teach health educational activities with other nursing
students that are appropriate for the students age. The activities are based on what the
students have asked us to present on. Topics have included reading food labels, making
healthy snacks, germs and hand washing, first aid, PPE and checking vital signs,
medication education and administration, dental care and hygiene, and bullying. Each
lesson typically includes group discussion learning about the information and an activity
