Explain what an Idiom is - an expression that cannot


be understood from the meanings of its separate
words but that has a separate meaning of its own.
We are going to look at the difference between the
literal meaning and the figurative meaning of some
idioms
Literal: the primary or strict meaning of the words
Figurative: expressing one thing in terms normally
denoting another
