In this study the metal cutting process is analyzed with FEM model for
3D SIMULATION OF TURNING PROCESS with solid single point cutting tool. This tool
is modeled with CATIAV5, and the STL files are imported in to DEFORM 3D for the
simulation purpose.
FEM Simulations are performed at cutting speeds of 100, 125, 150 175
and 200 m/min to predict the stress and strain. AISI 1045 steel is used as a work
piece material and PCBN tool, Cemented Carbide tool used as cutting tools.
Cutting tools are generally used in the lathe machines for getting required
dimensions of the work piece. The main focus of the model is to estimate the
effective stress, effective strain and temperature developed in the AISI 1045 work
piece material. From the process simulation it has been found that the high cutting
speeds causes a decrease in effective stress, where as the effective strain and
temperature is induced in the work piece (AISI 1045) material are high.
To perform the simulations by varying the tool geometry angles under
different cutting speeds.
Influence of variation in other machining parameters.
the process of Experimental and FEM simulation is to find that the machining
parameters causes the effects of stress, strain and temperature is induced in the
work piece as well as tool materials.
