RE 251 Activity Plan

1. Your names: Gabe Prizer, Natalie Kretlow

2. Type of activity (circle or highlight one): Game
1. Name of activity: Stack Up
2. Estimated length of time for activity: 3o minutes or nine innings
3. Which of the four major outcomes of adventure education are
addressed? How?
This is a Group Development activity. There should be positive
communication, teamwork, and cooperation amongst teammates.
Participants should develop social skills and good communication
The activity also establishes Moral Development because there is a
dependence of others to complete a main goal and a sense of
accomplishment is achieved.
4. What resources, equipment, or props will you use for the activity?
Do you need any provided for you? If so, what, how many, etc? Be
specific!
Cones (12-9)
Ball (1)
5. Will this activity work in the WildCat Room or outdoors behind the
building?
This game will work outdoors or in a gymnasium setting
6. Describe how you plan to conduct the activity including:
a. Physical set-up for the activity, getting props ready, etc.
Set up should not take more than a few minutes. The game should be
ready before explaining the game or students should have something
to do while we set up the game. One of the leaders could divide the
group into two teams by playing a name game while the other leader
sets up the game.
b. Briefing or framing (verbal set-up, not just instructions or
rules). The story that goes along with the activity (not all will
have this).

c. The activity itself (include all rules and explanations) and how
you will equally share in leading the activity)
This game combines kickball and dodgeball and has bases that allow
multiple people. Cones determine the three bases and are set up in a
rectangle (or triangle depending on how many cones are available).
The group is going to be divided into two teams. The teams will be
determined by playing a name game. One team is spread throughout
an area, alternating pitchers every batter to involve all players equally.
The batting team kicks the ball and runs to the base. If the pitching
team catches the ball, the player is automatically out. The pitching
team can also pick up the ball and try to throw it at the runner to get
the player out. The batting team is allowed multiple players to stack
up on the bases. Before a player can advance to the next base, he or
she must stop and boogie down. Players must keep in mind that there
is always someone able to bat. Three outs per inning and there are
nine innings.
Please be courteous, no face or ball shots
d. Supervision (safety and rule enforcement)
One of us will be at home plate to help keep track of points and who is
out. The other will be a third base coach and will pay attention to foul
balls, if the ball is caught or the ball is thrown at a person to make
them out.

e. Discussion, how will you facilitate the activity? If you plan to

debrief, please include questions here.

We will facilitate the activity by being fair in judgment and by being aware of
the surroundings. We will help indicate when teams switch positions and
batters change.

Some debrief questions could be: What was fun about the activity? What did
you gain by doing this activity? Would anyone use this activity in the future?

9. What are the risks associated with this activity? How will you
account for them?

Sprained ankle or injury from running and falling

Getting it in the face with the ball, the person who throws the ball has
to sit out for five minutes. Depending on severity of injury, grab some
ice packs, or call emergency services if person is knocked out.

Some people do not like team sports and might not be enthusiastic
about the activity or want to sit out, and that is a persons right.
