3.InternationalStatusofBiosphereReserves(BR)
The UNESCO has introduced the designation Biosphere Reserve for natural areas to minimize conflict between developme
nominatedbynationalgovernmentwhichmeetaminimalsetofcriteriaandadheretominimalsetofconditionsforinclusionintheworldn
undertheManandBiosphereReserveProgrammeofUNESCO.Globally621BRsrepresentingfrom117countriesincludedinthenetwo

4.StructureandfunctionsofBR:
Biospherereservesaredemarcatedintofollowing3interrelatedzones:

Corezonemustcontainsuitablehabitatfornumerousplantandanimalspecies,includinghigherorderpredatorsandmayconta
areasoftenconservethewildrelativesofeconomicspeciesandalsorepresentimportantgeneticreservoirshavingexceptionalscienti
