Workshops
ITI has been conducting crane, rigging, and lifting openenrollment educational events since 1986. Notice, these
are not conferences. ITI Workshops are single-track,
interactive learning events that bring ITI course content
to a specific region, tailored to a specific industry, with a
few special guest speakers. Find the lineup for upcoming
Lifting Workshops.

Who We Are
Introduction
The Fundamentals of Rigging Engineering is a comprehensive training program that
introduces participants to the science and art of the engineering behind heavy crane and
rigging, lifting, and transport activities.
These activities take place in a variety of industrial environments. Engineers come on the scene
with backgrounds in mechanical, civil, structural or other branches of engineering. However,
in most engineering degree programs, students learn little to nothing about crane and rigging
activities. Most engineers who enter this field are then required to learn on-the-job.
Another group of potential participants include a multitude of non-engineers who have
graduated through the ranks to take on the roles of lift planner, equipment superintendent, or
master rigger. In general, these individuals have learned a great deal on-the-job but lack the
formal education that the risky activities they are conducting call for.
Purpose and Scope
This program was built to prepare key personnel with foundational knowledge in rigging
engineering, exposing students to what they need to consider, and provide them with the
resources to solve a challenge when it arises.
Program Format and Delivery Methods
Fundamentals of Rigging Engineering is comprised of five required courses and five electives;
two electives are required to complete the program. Each course is comprised of three to six
modules, with students moving through the following program requirement tasks within each
module:
Reading and Media Viewing
Lecture Videos and Presentation Review
Discussion Questions
Assignments and Workshops
Exams
Online & On-Demand
Students are able to complete the entire Program online and at their own speed lectures are
recorded by subject matter experts. The five required courses and two of the available elective
courses are available online.
Hands-on at ITI Training Centers
To enhance the learning experience with hands-on training, participants are offered three
elective course options at ITI Training Centers. If a participant has completed one of the ITI
Training Center Course options in the past three years, that credit can be carried over to the
Fundamentals of Rigging Engineering Program.

The Master Rigger Program is a premier ITI course that has been demanded by dozens of
industries for nearly twenty-five years. It has served those who have sought the next level
of rigging information, technical knowledge and skill. It exposes participants to a variety of
equipment and applications which include multiple-crane lifts, load turning, load drifting
with chain hoists, jacking and rolling using mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems,
incline planes and managing the center-of-gravity in all three axes.
This course also meets the new USA Federal OSHA regulation requiring training for riggers.
A written and practical exam can be administered to further qualify the riggers.
