The Empire of Ytreffal is a tiny, genial nation, notable for its burgeoning Giant
Squid population. Its compassionate population of 7 million enjoy extensive civil rights
and enjoy a level of social equality free from the usual accompanying government
corruption.
The enormous government is mainly concerned with Education, although Social
Welfare and Religion & Spirituality are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is
36%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the
Retail industry.
A well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, meat-eating is frowned
upon, the government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru, and the latest
Harry Potter book is a bestseller. Crime is well under control. Ytreffal's national animal is
the Giant Squid, which frolics freely in the nation's sparkling oceans, and its currency is
the Clink.
Our national motto is Ayyyy Lol. It is meant to inspire people when troubled
times come around.
People in our nation are very happy with their civil rights. We let the people have
their freedom, and they show that they are very happy with it. The economy is a
different story. We have a very fragile economy. We are working on it, but it is a big
struggle for us. We have had issues brought up, and we are dealing with all of them.
Our political freedoms are very good as well. People are allowed to have a great say in
what happens with political leaders and new laws or propositions. We believe that the
people are the base of our nation, and without them, we would be nothing.
The issues that we have had recently have been dealt with.
The new Harry Potter books have caused a few concerned parents to speak up
about how the book is vulgar. We decided to allow the books to be in the school
libraries and we are letting the children read them. It is a good book, and they shouldnt
be shielded from literature.
Another problem is that we were trying to find a new religious leader. Most of the
population wanted a new age leader, and so we gave it to them. Some of the older
people in our nation werent happy with this. We apologize, but we were ready for
change in the religious area.
We are ranked in the top 10% for being the happiest nation in the world, which
ranks us as the 352nd nation for being the happiest.

My nation did turn out how I wanted it. I wanted people to be happy and inspired
even though the economy was bad. They are very happy, and we hardly have any real
issues. The economy is terrible but the civil and political rights are very high, and that is
what I wanted.
