Video Analysis
This is a video about Karl Marx. It basically explained the Marx's idea and conflict
theory, it also introduced how different classes work in society of the 19 centuries.
Moreover, this video indicates that there's a significant economic inequality between
poor and rich so that could cause our society change. And because of the class
inequality, workers are united to create class conscientious which I believed is the
Marx's idea of Communism. In addition, this video gives example of the conflict theory
such as equal rights and woman suffrage in America. In the end, it concludes that
conflict theory would make society change and united, but it doesn't make society
stable.
Philosopher Comte believes the interaction in society that could help our society
to improve and stay stable. He also is a founder of positivism who believes we should
use the social facts and natural laws to govern our society. In his point of view, he might
not agree with my video because Marxs communism is based put all people in one
class to estimate inequality between rich and poor. In the flip side, he might think
capitalism would fit in our society due to the positivism. In addition, communism might
also creates an unstable society. Thus I think Comte would not agree with this video. On
the other hand, sociologist Durkheim has his own opinion on social structure. Basically,
he believes that everyone in our society should work together to achieve the social

equilibrium which is his idea of the functionalism. At this point, I think he has a very
similar idea with Marx. And I believe he would agree with my video. Sociologist Karl
Marx would definitely agree with the conflict theory in my video because he is the
founder of the communist who believes solving the inequality in our society is the most
important thing to do.
In my video, I believed that conflict theory is the most represented paradigm,
from the beginning of the video, it introduced Marxs idea which is society evolved
through three stages: feudalism, capitalism, and socialism. And then video indicated
that capitalism is popular in 19 centuries. But Marx believes the inequality between two
class of bourgeoisie and proletariat are the problems in society so that workers should
be united and rich people should shared their property,too. On the other hand, due to
that rich class bourgeoisie held all the power and money on their hand, this video used
thesis and antithesis to represent factory owners and workers to show that both class
have a such disagreement about their economic inequality. In other words, theres a big
conflict between rich and poor class and I think thats why it called conflict theory, it is
also why I chose this paradigm for my project. Moreover, this video gives a very specific
information about how Marx came up with his idea and what is communism all about.
Examples of the inequality are racism, women's rights and equal rights are related to
conflict theory,too. In the end, video analyzed conflict theory to show people that
communism is definitely changing our societys inequality, but it will not bring us a stable
society for a long term. In my personal opinion, theres no right and wrong between
each of the principles because each theory works differently in different societies.
