Setting Up Your Access


Receiving the Access Key from Your Teacher or AP Coordinator

IfyouaresubmittingyourportfoliothroughanAPStudioArtteacher:YourAPStudioArtteacherwillprovideyouwiththe
followinginformation,whichyouwillneedtoenterwhensettingupyouraccesstotheAPStudioArtDigitalSubmissionweb
application:

The six-digit school code that identifies the school through which you are
submitting your portfolio(s)

The Teacher Key, a unique alphanumeric code that identifies the teacher you will
be working with

IfyouarehomeschooledorotherwisenotsubmittingyourportfoliothroughanAPStudioArtteacher:Youwillbeworking
withtheAPCoordinatorattheschoolyouareassociatedwith.TheAPCoordinatorwillprovideyouwiththestudentaccessKeyand
schoolcodethatyouwillneedtosetupyouraccesstothewebapplication.

Creating Your Account


Tosetupyourstudentaccess:

1. On the Sign In screen, click Set up your access now.


2. On the Select Your Access Type screen, click Student.
3. Enter all information required on the Set Up Your Access screen.

Foreachportfolioyouwillbesubmitting,youwillberequiredtoenterthecorrespondingKeyprovidedtoyouby
yourteacherorAPCoordinator.

EnteringyouremailaddressisrecommendedbecauseitwillprovideyourteacherorAPCoordinatorwitha
convenientwaytocommunicatewithyouaboutyourAPStudioArtportfolio(s).However,youarenotrequiredto
enteryouremailaddress.

ClickSubmittocompleteyouraccessrequest.Aconfirmationscreenwillletyouknowthatyouhaveaccesstothedigital
submissionapplication.

RegistrationInformation:AfterclickingSubmittocompleteyouraccessrequest,youmaycompleteadditionalrequired
registrationinformationatthistimeorlater.Ifyouchoosetocompleteitatthistime,youcanenterandsaveasmuchofthe
informationasdesired.Whenyouexit,theapplicationwillreturnyoutotheSignInscreen.

YoucancomebacklatertocompleteormodifyyourregistrationinformationbyusingtheAccountInformationtoolon
yourhomepage.Youmustcompletetheregistrationinformationbeforeyoucanforwardyourcompletedportfolioto
yourteacher(orAPCoordinator).Formoreinformation,seeCompletingYourRegistrationInformation.

Signinwiththeusernameandpasswordthatyoudesignatedduringthesetupprocess.
Note:Ifyouindicatedthatyouwillbesubmittingmorethanoneportfolio,ascreenwillaskwhichportfolioyouwantto
workonduringthissession.Yourhomepagefortheportfolioyouselectwillthenappear.

Working with Images

RequirementsandRecommendationsforDigitalImages
AllimagesmustbesubmittedinJPEGformat(filenameextension.jpg)andRGBcolormode.Werecommenduploadingfiles
thatare72pixelsperinch(ppi)becauseahigherresolutiondoesnotaddclaritytoimagesthatarebeingviewedonacomputerscreen.
Werecommendthatyoukeepcopiesofyouroriginalimages.
Imagesize:Theimagesizesbelowarerecommendations.Yourimagesizesmaybedifferent.

Assoonasyouhavesetupyouraccesstothewebapplication,youcanbeginuploadingimages.Youcanrearrangetheimagesand
addlabelinformationasyouworkontheportfoliosections.Youcanworkonthesectionsofyourportfolioinanyorder,saveyour
work,andreturntoittomakeadditionsorchangesatanytimebeforeformallyforwardingyourportfolio.Note:For2DDesignand
Drawingportfolios,youwillbeunabletoworkonSectionI:Quality(SelectedWorks)usingthewebapplication.Becausethissection
involvesthephysicalsubmissionofartworksforthesetwoportfolios,Qualitysectionartworkswillnotbesubmittedthroughthe
digitalsubmissionwebapplication.

Uploading Images

Afteruploadingafile,youwillseeathumbnailimageinthebox.Youcanclickthethumbnailtodisplaythefull
sizedimage.

ClickSaveAllChangestosaveyourworkbeforemovingtoanothersectionofyourportfolioorexitingtheapplication.

Deleting Images
Todeleteanimage,clicktheredxaboveit.Theimageboxwillbecomeblank.Thedeleteiconappearsonlywhenimageispresent.

Rearranging Images
1.

Changethenumberinthetopleftcornerofanyimagethatyouwanttomovetoanewpositioninthetemplate.Thenumber
youenterrepresentswhereyouwanttheimagetoberelocatedwithinthetemplate.Ensurethatyouhavenoduplicate
numbers.

ClickSaveAllChanges.Yourchangeswillbesaved,andthepagewillbereloadedwiththeimagesrearrangedasyouhave
specified.

Labeling Images
Tolabelyourimageswiththedimensionsoftheartworkandthemediumormediausedtocreateit:

1. Click Images & Labels to display the label fields.

Dimensions:Entertheactualheightandwidth(anddepth,ifapplicable)ininches,oftheartworkthatispictured.

3.

Medium:Enterabriefdescriptionofthematerialsusedtocreatetheartwork.

4.

ClickSaveAllChangestosaveyourworkbeforemovingtoanothersectionofyourportfolioorexitingtheapplication.

Adding Concentration Commentary


Inadditiontoimages,SectionII:Concentration(SustainedInvestigation)requiresaconcisewrittencommentarydescribingyour
concentration.Whenpreparingyourcommentary,keepinmindthattheapplicationhasabuiltincharacterlimitforresponsestoeach
ofthetwocommentaryquestions:

Whatisthecentralideaofyourconcentration?(500charactersmaximum)

Howdoestheworkinyourconcentrationdemonstratetheexplorationofyouridea?Youmayrefertospecificimages
asexamples.Whenreferencingspecificimages,pleaseindicatetheimagenumbers.(1350charactersmaximum)
