My Classroom Management Plan

By Raelynne Hillius

My approach to classroom management is to make learning fun

and use positive reinforcements. One of my goals as an
educator is to help students to believe in themselves and build
them up, so they want to learn. In my classroom management
plan, you will see examples of the ways I hope to achieve these
goals. In addition, you will see I believe in natural
consequences. Each behavior that occurs in a classroom has a
natural consequence. I believe in letting students learn
through these consequences. I have included examples of the
strategies for a 3rd grade classroom.

In This Class We:

Help Each Other
Are Kind and Respectful
Listen and Follow Directions
Do Our Best
Have Fun!!

Positive Reinforcements
You receive a ticket when you are seen doing something exceptionally
well. When you are given a ticket; write your name on the ticket. On
Fridays, the tickets can be traded for a prize or kept to get a bigger
prize. Prizes may be classroom supplies, such as pencils and erasers.
There will be other prizes such as:
Choose a book to read for read aloud
Be a line leader
Sit next to the teacher at story time
Be the teachers helper for a day
Be the first in the lunch line
Lunch with the teacher (small group)

Positive Reinforcements cont.

I send emails/text messages to parents when I see

improvement or exceptional behavior in the classroom. I also
have special sticker rewards that I give out daily. This is a
way of pointing out the positive things you are doing.

Positive Reinforcements (Group)

I use a clicker that counts each time I click it. When you or your
classmates are being disruptive or are not following directions, I click it.
If the behavior continues, I click it several times until you or your
classmates behave as expected. In the beginning, we will have a goal of
getting less than 10 clicks a day. We will decide the reward as a class,
but it could be popcorn and a movie, a special treat, extra recess, show
and tell, listening to music, or other reasonable ideas. After we reach
this goal, we will set a new goal with another prize. Each time the prize
will be a little more difficult to achieve.
