My Bio

My name is Jessica Ransome. I began my career with CSX Transportation in March 1982
in Baltimore, Maryland as a Transportation Extraboard clerk. Over the past 33
years, I have worked a variety of positions in Transportation Operations,
Finance, Customer Service, and Human Resource departments. I have spent
the past 16 years in the training field where I worked as a training assistant,
trainer, instructional designer, instructional design manager, and I am
currently the Director Learning & Development Design for Talent
Development & Diversity. In this role I manage a team of employees who
design, develop, and deliver training programs for approximately 28,000 new
hire and experienced employees. My team of instructional designers, in
collaboration with internal business partners and subject matter experts
(SMEs), create instructional content for instructor-led training (ILT), online
courses, and mobile instruction. This includes developing storyboards (for
eLearning); producing instructional materials such as lesson plans, job aids,
and assessments; and creating courseware and learning simulations.
I completed my B.S. degree in Workforce Education & Development
from Southern Illinois University at N.A.S. in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2001,
and I am currently working to complete a Master of Distance Education and
E-Learning degree with a specialty in Distance Education Technology. I am
pursuing this degree because I am very much interested in the mechanics
and technology involved in creating a true blended learning platform. Upon
completion, I hope to have a better understanding of the systems design
process because I want to continue to help my company build upon our
current training delivery platform to take advantage of the benefits of true
distance education and mobile learning.
At home, I run like crazy between football and basketball practice
sessions and games with my 14 year old son. In my rare moments of free

time, even rarer now that I am back in school, I enjoy reading and playing
SCRABBLE.
