What does the tool do?
Vocabulary Spelling City has many useful tools that can be used in the
classroom. For one, it includes a word bank of over 50,000 words and
allows for student/parents/teachers to enter their own words into a word
bank and then later quizzes the student on the spelling of each.
Vocabulary Spelling City also has many game-based learning features in
areas such as phonics, vocabulary, spelling, language arts and writing.
How can this be used in education?
This tool provides students with a new way to practice spelling, language
and writing through interactive games and word pronunciation. It also
provides a hands on way for all students to practice their spellings words
for the week.
How can this tool reduce or remove barriers for certain learners?
Vocabulary Spelling City can be beneficial to students who are struggling
in the language arts area of the curriculum as it introduces numerous
ways in which one can practice.
Required age of users:
Vocabulary Spelling City is suitable for all students grades k-12 as it gives
users the option of adding their own words.

What does the tool do?
Padlet is an application that allows for students to post their thoughts
through images, videos or text through a domain accessible only to the
school. It works like an online whiteboard where students can
collaborate and share ideas.
How can this be used in education?
Padlet is great tool when working in groups or as a class when asked to
share your own ideas on any given topic. It is a quick and efficient way to
hear all ideas while simultaneously using the tool as a note taker for
future references.
Perhaps more appropriate for the upper grade levels, Padlet would be a
great tool for working with groups outside of school, as it can be used
from any device. This would make communication and the presentation
of ideas between group members much easier.
How can this tool reduce or remove barriers for certain learners?
In relation to how Padlet can be used in education, the tool would also
work great in removing a barrier many experience in the classroom.
Students who would normally be too shy to share their thoughts and
ideas can easily do so through this tool.

Padlet could be used amongst students of all ages as there are multiple
possibilities and ways for the application to be used.

What does the tool do?
Reading Bear is a web 2.0 tool that teaches students to read through
phonics and vocabulary. The tool includes 50 presentations that consist
of hours of practice and instruction. Word are illustrated through
pictures and pronounced at multiple different speeds so that students
can grasp the correct meaning and pronunciation of the word.
How can this be used in education?
This can be used in education through the implementation of quizzes
based off of the presentations conducted in the tool. Students can
complete the presentations working in pairs or small groups at school,
and can re-examine them at home if they need the extra time/assistance.
How can this tool reduce or remove barriers for certain learners?
This tool is great for visual learners and auditory learners as it shows
pictures along with slow to fast pronunciations. Along with any online
tool, students can access this on their own time if they need the extra
help.
Required age of users:
Reading Bear is suitable for kindergarten to grade two learns as its
purpose is to help students learn how to read, and learn the
differentiation between homonyms.
