You have your moments of brilliance, but may not be consistent enough to earn an A. Earning
a B for participation means that you are not quite working to your potential, but you take care
of the basic things that are asked of you. Your participation in discussion groups is adequate.
You are generally on-task and respectful of others. You are mostly engaged in the course, but
you have some days where you are floating by. You are frequently an asset to the class.
You could do a better job. You participate sporadically and may be off-task during discussion
groups, note-taking, activities, lectures, or workshops. It has been obvious on occasion that you
are not engaged with the course material. Perhaps you put your work away, line up at the door
early, or you move yourself to an unproductive location during workshop? You need to work
harder to participate and be prepared for class. Your lack of participation in class can be a liability at times.
You are frequently unengaged in class. You may also be frequently off-task, and your behavior may be negative. Do you passively sit while letting others in the group do the work? Your
behavior may be distracting to the other members of the class. You use your phone for things
unrelated to class. Your lack of participation in class is a liability.
