Guidelines for Final Paper

Request your mentors to give you permission to attend the hearings of pending cases that they handle. If
you are unable to attend hearings of your mentors, you are allowed to attend hearings of other lawyers.
Preferably, you are to attend hearings of different kinds of cases (criminal, civil, administrative,
mediation/arbitration)but if this is not feasible, you must attend a hearing where you may be able to witness
an actual litigation (your mentors presenting a witness or cross examining a witness).
Discuss the four-fold duties of a lawyer based on your interviews with your mentor, and your court
observation experiences. For your full-length paper assignment, please include a discussion that tackles
any or all of the following:

Actual ethical dilemmas that your lawyer has faced and/or is facing; or
Ethical dilemmas routinely experienced in your lawyers field of law; or
Potential ethical dilemmas, weaknesses, and/or potential areas for corruption or compromise of
ones values and ethics in that field of law.

This paper is due on the date of your final examinations.
