Suggestions for Improvement:

Marete demonstrated a very high understanding

of the teaching and learning process as she
developed this lesson. Though the academic
standard in the lesson focused on contractions
she also addressed bullying within the lesson as
this class has recently had these kinds of
concerns. This lesson was most unique to
combine what would appear to be separate
issues. As Marete planned the lesson, she
realized the students would not have time to
complete their tasks within the lesson. In the
future more time would be needed to duplicate
the lesson.

Overall Rating:

Proficient

Suggestions for Improvement:

Marete developed a very unique and student

engaging lesson. Marete gave each student a
surgical mask and plastic gloves in order to work
like doctors in a collaborative method to perform
"surgery" on two words to create a contraction.
Students were excited and involved, and moved
around the room to work together to complete the
task creating a positive experience of helping
each other. Hopefully this will be a positive step
toward relieving the bullying issue.

Overall Rating:

Proficient

Suggestions for Improvement:

This lesson had an extremely unique quality and

was very engaging. The students and the
classroom teacher were very positive about the
lesson.
Marete knew the lesson was going to run longer
than time permitted and some steps could have
been further developed. In discussion with
Marete, she will want to spend more time with the
students developing the mental set of the lesson
and the actual tasks expected of the students
within the lesson.

Do you believe this practicum student has the

knowledge, skills, and attitude required to
become an effective student teacher?

Yes

General Comments:

Marete has a very good grasp of the teaching

and learning process for a student in the
practicum level. She has experience working in
different school settings which is very evident as
she is well to becoming a great addition to the
teaching profession.. The classroom teacher
went out of her way to let me know how
impressed she has been with Marete.
