EMERGENCY HELIDECK DRILL REPORT

The purpose of the drill was:


1) To determine preparedness of ERT & HLO Team members during emergency situation
2) To enhance effective chain of command & communication
3) To further refresh/trained ERT on manhandling victims & first aid application. Familiar with the use of
different of type of stretcher.
Parties Involved: ERT Members, K2 Doctor, Safety Officer, Radio Operator & HLO/HLA Teams
The sequence of events/scenarion are recorded as below:

1345hrs Announcement by Radio Operator Chopper will be landing at 1358hrs
1346hrs HLO & HLA team took position on Helideck and standby
1358hrs At about landing on K2 Helideck, suddenly the Pilot lost control maneuvering
and forced the Chopper to land. The Chopper crash landing on Helideck.
1401hrs The HLO immediately alerted the Radio Room of the Incident and
immediately call the Stretcher/Rescue Team assembled to the ERT
Mustering Point with their emergency equipments.
1403hrs ERT Leader & Doctor assessed the situation and observe Pilot sustain
severe bleeding and fracture cause from the impact.
ERT Leader instructed Stretcher team proceed to the scene of Incident
immediately. Doctor examined the IP and due to the injury, the IP had to
immobilize by fracture on both right leg and arm IP cause from the impact.
1406hrs The Stretcher Teams was instructed by the Doctor to manhandle and put the
IP in the stretcher. Doctor explained the correct technique during lifting the IP
using the stretcher.
1409hrs The IP was carried to the clinic using stretcher for further treatment
1413hrs The Doctor re-examined the IP
1415hrs The drill stand down & completed

Debriefing by Doctor:
1) How to check condition unconscious persons
2) Correct technique of lifting IP using stretcher
3) The Dos & Donts when attending injured persons
4) Application of Cervical Support for fracture leg and arm

Total Drill Time duration = 30 minutes

Remarks: 1. Generally, the drill was carried out in a smooth & safe manner.
2. Demonstration using of Stretcher - (Time taken 2 min).
3. Proper technique during lifting IP into stretcher.
