JIM AND ROSE SOMERSET OAKSIDE MOBILE HOME PARK CORPORATION On March 19th 1984, the mobile home owners at Oakside, were incorporated as The Oakside Mobie Home Park, INC. This was done to have an organization in place in the event that the park would ever go up for sale. The corporation is registered with the State of Florida and conforms to the Florida state laws in order to protect all of us from outside ownership taking over the park against our wishes. If Oakside were to be sold, members of the corporation would be given FIRST oppertunity to purchase the property. Membership dues have been determined to the board of directors to be $10.00 for each unit to be collected at the time of sign-up, a One time fee Only. Membership is Not transferable once the moblie home is sold. Members are incouraged to participate in the Florida Mobile Home Association (FMO) htip:/www.fno.ore/FMO_AboutUs.asp: The Federation of Manufactured Hor rs of Florida, Inc. is the only nonprofit consumer advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the rights of over 1.2 million manufactured home owners in the state of Florida. While many of our resources target Florida legislators, making them aware of the problems that face homeowners and persuading them to affect positive legislation that will protect our members, we also offer personalized, individual assistance to members who need us. This is not mandatory nor is membership contingent on FMO participation. proximately 60% of Oakside owners are members of the Oakside Mobile 3 Home Park Corporation. There are Six members of the board, and they serve up to three years. There is a President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three directors. Please take a few minutes to learn more and attend our meetings. Our Treasurer Arnie Moore can accept the one time fee anytime. Thank you (DEEDEE) Annette Truax, President. THIS YEAR IS ELECTION YEAR AS WELL FOR NEW OFFICERS. Anew year is about to unfold With new opportunities to explore Doors will open for new experiences New adventures with the Lord Remember not the former things The things of this past year The Lord will do new things in us Much more than we are aware For He will make a way for us As we put our trust in Him And He will guide our every step By His presence we have within From the president's corner: Happy New Year to everyone! For 2016,1 hope that all of you will think about all the activities that we have here at Oakside and make a small resolution to do something to assist with one or more of these things.| welcome any ideas for new things and also your ways of making things easier by working together. These past few months have been "trying" ones for us because of illness and problems for many preventing them from being here with us and thus not having the help we are used to for keeping things running smoothly. want to extend my sincere thanks to all who have participated in or done anything for me in the Association and also in the Shuffleboard club and the Ladies Club-we certainly need everyone's help to keep these organizations up and active. We are pleased to have many new residents in the park this year and are ever so grateful for some of them wanting to become more active in the activities and workings of the park.! invite each of them to come to the Association meetings and also to Friday coffee hour to get to know their "neighbors" and create new friendships. This will make everyone feel more comfortable and ready to join the different organizations and be a real partner in the park. If you need information about the park and its activities, there are many copies in the clubhouse but do not hesitate to call me or stop me if you see me around the park and ask any question you have concern about. My phone numbers and e-mail address are in the new phone directory. Please, folks, let's enjoy the rest of the season and share our friendship and knowledge with each other in order to maintain our “family atmosphere" here at Oakside. Here we are already in the first month of a brand new year-that being 2016! Itis already promising to be busy winter season for all of us here at Oakside Park. We need to be mindful that this is not only @ National election year but also an election year here at the park. Each of the current officers are up for either re-election or new people to take their place. want everyone to be thinking about what they would like to see happeneing at Oakside for the coming years and to decide whom they feel would be able to make those things happen before election day arrives. Election is only one small part of the happenings. There are pot-luck dinners and there may be entertainment for some of them-the first one is coming right up on Jan.7th and our Park Owner will give her State of the Park Address so everyone needs to attend in order to ask questions and listen to what is being said so all are talking on the same wave length after the day is done.At the other dinners there may be entertainment so keep watch for announcements. Then, there will be our annual Strawberry Social which will be free to residents. this year but be mindful if you have guests and you bring them, they are welcome but you will eed to pay for their ice cream/strawberries.Shuffle club will have tournaments and there will be lunches served and they are open to the park residents at nominal cost and those that are shuffling really lke to see the support of all residents. Weekly happenings of many card games ‘and other games,Bingo,Darts and Exercise class are always busy Ladies Club will have their rummage sale next month but January seems to be a "cleaning" month so,if you have things that might be useful to others, save them in a tote or box and bring them up to the sale. There will be the annual "pound auction" and also the variety show. So, as you can see see, there are ot too many dull moments to be had here if you will ust come and join in on the fun! OAKSIDE GREET AND MEET 2015-2016 PART 1 by Bari Ilis always exciting to return to Oakside Park in the fall and greet old friends, but equally exciting is meeting new friends and that holds true again. This year, many have found their way to Cameo Street. Let's meet a few. Gary Metz moved into 6215 Cameo in March of 2015 as a year round resident. Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, he served four years in the army, then worked as a factory mechanic for Alcoa until his retirement. Along the way he created "three, beautiful, amazing children, two boys and one girl." It is hard for me to believe that this youthful looking gent also has seven grandchildren, but he does. His hobby is wood carving...drop down sometime and view his artful creations...and his favorite things to do are karaoke, darts, and anything to do with music. A man with an awesome sense of humor, he is a very enjoyable, friendly and helpful neighbor. Welcome to the Oakside Family. Last spring, after the death of her mother's husband, Cheryal Young moved into 6207 Cameo to keep her mother company. A good move, if you ask me, for we became fast friends. Cheryal was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. She has one daughter and one grandson. She enjoys jewelry making, live stage/theatre, Bingo, and collecting anything with a Betty Boop motif, She currently works in business administration for a logistics company in Dade City. With her infectious laugh and a smile on her face, you can see why she fits right into the Oakside family. Thirty-five days afer meeting, this couple wed, and now, twenty-nine years later, Walter and Sherry Snopkowski find themselves at 6219 Cameo as permanent residents. Born and raised in New York, they have traveled extensively across the country. He worked as a CNC operator and she as a domestic engineer. When I asked Walter about his favorite thing, he said, "My wife!” and when I asked her, she relied, "My husband!" Seems to me they are still on their honeymoon. They not only have a love for each other, they love their daughter and step-children, and MUSIC. Welcome to Oakside Park! These are just a few of our new family members at Oakside Park and we welcome them all with open arms. In the near future, it will be my pleasure to introduce you to more of our new residents. Oakside Neighborhood Crime Watch By Richard Lepage, Chairperson The Oakside Neighborhood Crime Watch was established many years ago. No record of the exact year is available. The role of the Watch is not one of security or crime fighting but one of crime prevention. Block Captains are volunteers and act as liaison for their neighbors. They observe their assigned areas and as one example, advise the neighbor who might be leaving a tool shed open when they are away. That could lead to items being stolen. Other unsafe conditions would also be brought to a neighbor's attention. They also provide information and encourage support and participation in the program, Ifa stranger enters the park a Watch member would approach in a friendly manner and offer assistance (but other residents could also do this). If the person refuses to cooperate, their description would be noted and 911 called. Note if a resident sees a 'prowler’ during dark hours, for the sake of safety, they should not be approached. A call to 911 is the proper thing to do. The Zephyrhills Police support and ecourage the Neighborhood Watch program The officer in charge is Capt. Robert McKinney who attended a Coffee Hour last ‘season. If it is felt that we should invite him again, | will check his availability. It is my intention to try and name:two co-Captains for each area. This will result in automatic back-up when one is not available. If anyone is interested in being named, please call me. Below is a list of current Block Captains. Agate - Dick Averill Bayberry - Bob Perrault Cameo ~ Walt Snopkowski Cherry, Peach, 14! — Jim Soyke Lark South ~ Pete Marsh Lark North - Jack Dunlop Linnet — Dave Tobin Pearl South — Lance Deavers Pearl North — John Ballantine Pleasant South - Don Webster Pleasant North — Bill Visser Royal - Al Holmes Clubhouse and Courts — Don Hoorelbeck Block Captains at-large ~ Dave Herre and Don Paimer 8
