OAKSIDE OBSERVER FEB 2016
AGrandparent's Love
It seems like only yesterday
Our lives were just beginning.
‘Your love for us never failed,
Our hearts continually mending.
It is strange to watch the time fly
Before our very eyes,
‘Which reminds me of the blessing,
‘That we have you in our lives.
‘To have yet to feel the touch
‘That's as gentle as your hand
The closeness of our family
One could never understand.
‘As each of our lives
Continue to change,
Reflections of your love
In each of us remains.
‘You have pointed out the path
‘And led us along the way;
‘The wisdom you have planted,
We each still hold today.
‘You sheltered us through childhood
‘And saw us through today,
‘Taught us of the Lord above,
About faith, and how to pray.
One day we'll all be in heaven
Dancing on the throne,
Praising God for giving us
‘A family like we've never known.
‘No matter where our lives may go,
‘We will trust the Lord above
‘And through it all always thank him for our grandparents’ love.

MEET AND GREET
BAR
A spell of cool, rainy weather has not deterred this
reporter from visiting with more of our new
neighbors. I grabbed my umbrella and off I went. I
found each home I visited filled with warmth and
sunshine,
After renting for a while here at Oakside Park, Rod
and Linda Novenski have now planted Florida roots
at 6146 Cameo Street. They hail from Sault Ste.
Marie, Michigan. They met while attending the
same college, fell for each other and now have been
married for forty-three years. Family get-togethers
must be quite lovely with their family of five
children (and their spouses) and four grandchildren,
In their working years, Linda was a registered nurse,
working in hospitals, but found her true calling in
Home Healthcare. Rod worked for the Department
of Corrections. Their hobby has been the completion
of a multitude of projects both inside and outside of
their lovely home, particularly outdoor work and
gardening. They are now ready to enjoy the fruits of
their labors with the “bunch of nice people” that
they have met here at Oakside.
At 6152 Cameo Street, I was warmly greeted by Phil
Lawrence and Peggy Adams. Phil was a Mainer,
and Peggy was a Michiganite, They both found
their way to Zephyrhills where they met and have
been together ever since. One reason they picked
Oakside Park as their permanent residence was its
location to “everything,”
‘They have two daughters, three grandchildren, and
three great grandchildren with another one on the
way. Phil has worked as a ship wright, a lobsterman
(mmmmm!), and thoroughly likes woodworking.
He enjoys the challenge of fixing anything too. A
a
major interest is clocks and watches..ALL clocks
and watches. He can repair the innards of any clock
or watch. You should see his collection of clocks
from miniature to grandfather sized. Peggy loves to
crochet and to cook. While I was visiting, she made
chocolate/peanut cookies as a sweet treat for her
fellow BINGO players. What a lovely addition to
‘our Oakside Family.
Dan Sigler has recently moved into 6214 Cameo
Street as a year round resident. He comes from
Canton, Ohio, home of the Football Hall of Fame.
From 1966-1970, he was in the U.S. Navy as a 3°
Class Aviational Electronics Technician. Later, he
eamed a Bachelor's Degree in Math Education from
Ohio State University, and his Masters in Technical
Education from the University of Akron. He
currently teaches algebra at_Hillsborough
Community College. Dan also has two children and
five grandchildren with another on the way.
A lifelong learner and a lover of life, Dan is working
on getting healthy. He enjoys walking, doing
research on the internet, especially topics involving
eating well, and how to get and maintain good
health. He loves spinach, exploring old bridges, the
woods and nature, and anything to do with the
ocean.
Finally, when I asked Dan why he settled here, he
said, “As soon as I saw the neighborhood and spoke
with some of my prospective neighbors, I knew this
is where I was going to live.” The closeness to
work, the grocery store, parks, library, ete. is a great
selling point,
