LPI RESULTS

URBN 570
DR. BOYD
1/30/2016

According to my Leadership Potential Indicator results I need to

work on the very things that I began to work on a few weeks ago.
Those things are listening to others/awareness and being focused
on the goals at hand rather than being distracted and pulled every
which way when I have an idea or epiphany.

AREAS FOR GROWTH/STRENGTHS

SANOVIA GARRETT

The likert scale and further

analysis of the results were
used to determine areas for
growth and strengths.

Management Level:
Operating at level 1 or 2
currently.
Competencies:
Developing the Vision:
Originator
Sharing Goals:
Regulator
Gaining Support:
Explorer
Delivering Success:
Individual Contributor

0-3: Focusing on the Business

The results for the section on Managing Change/ Developing
Vision indicated that I am an ORIGINATOR. In this role I am great
at idea generation and creativity but I lack the
planning/organizational skills to translate ideas into firm
proposals for change. This is so very true about me! The
"business" portion also has a lot to do with the finances in which I
am not the best at managing. One of the reasons I've recently
purchased a Passion Planner is for the sole purpose of refocusing
myself and not trying to overburden myself with tasks at the same
time. The results noted that I'm task oriented, but there has to be
some organization and focus to be successful in accomplishing my
tasks.
2-4: Listening and supporting
In the Sharing goals/Interpersonal Skills section it noted that I
was strong at setting direction of travel but weak at sharing the
vision, goals, and objectives with others. This independence has
been my weakness yet my strength. Over and over my results
iterated my independence and individuality as a contributor.
Gaining Support: I thrive on change and venturing into new
territories but underestimate the amount of effort needed to gain
support for change. I do need help, but I try to save the world,
alone--I've learned this act is not servant leadership and I want to
strive to be a servant leader.

STRENTHS, IN NUMBERS
6-8: Relating and Networking:
I didn't find it shocking that I was on the higher side for networking
and relating; it's what I love to do! The positives in this is that I'm
comfortable in new territories, but as alluded to in the areas for
growth--this is not relational! It's good business. Being considered
an Individual Contributor in the delivering success/results
orientation section of the LPI have helped me to build and operate
my own storytelling movement as well as the gift of being able to
"consult" others to help them be more successful.
8-10: Achieving Goals
I'm determined to achieve my goals. My LPI revealed my
willingness to take risks, make decision, meet customer needs,
gradual growth and development in leadership, and results
oriented thinking.

SLAOG TRAMS

Focus on active listening and supporting others by allowing them to

finish speaking before I interject for the entire month . Be sure to use
" Yes , and " instead of " but , and ".

Prior to conversations , ask people to actually tell me when I seem to

stop listening for the entire month of February and document each
time this occurs in a journal focused on listening and connecting .

Ask for feedback from teams that I manage . Ask for feedback the
first week in February from MBMG and using the same feedback
form , ask for follow up feedback the last week of February .
