Healthy Eating

Level Three Supervisor: Amy Eliason
Lead Teacher: Clarah Camp
Childrens Names and Learning/Development Goals:
1. Kambry- Her goal is to lengthen her attention span. This lesson will
help her because it requires to complete a task, and it will have a
reward with it.
2. Hunter- Hunter is going to learn his numbers. We are doing a lot of
measuring, this will help him with his basic math skills and number.
3. Jakub- His goal is to be around small focus. The small focus, making
smoothies, is hands on which he likes, and it does involved a
process which will keep him involved.
4. Max- His goal is to be involved in the different centers, and to
socialize with the children. This self selected will have food which is
one of his interests and it will help him come out from under the loft
and interact with the children and socialize.
5. AJ- AJs goal is to become ready for kindergarten. The math in the
self selected works on sorting and very easy fractions.
6. Gratton- His goals is fine motor skills. He will be able to work on this
while peeling the different fruits to put into the blender.
Preassessment and Findings:
I asked Hunter if cookies were healthy and he said that they were
When playing with AJ in the dramatic I asked him if he knew what a
vegetable was, and he said he didnt like them
I was at the manipulatives and talking to Lindsey I asked her to tell me
what being healthy means, she knew it is when you arent sick.
When playing with the vegetables outside I asked Eve if they were
healthy and she said that they, because they came from the ground
I was playing with Lucy and we were talking about cookies, and when
asked she said that they were healthy because they taste really good
At snack Eliahs labeled the apples as healthy, but couldnt tell us what
healthy meant or what it does for the body
I asked Brian if he liked to eat broccoli and he said that he didnt know
what that was.
Aria was playing in the dramatic play area with the food and picked up
the peppers, I asked if she knew what vegetable it was, and she didnt
know, but knew that it was nasty.
Ideas to be Emphasized:
1. Healthy eating keeps the body from not getting sick
2. There are many different healthy foods to eat that taste good
3. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts are healthy while cookies, cake and sugar
isnt healthy
