1.

A ladder of weight 390 N and 6m long is placed against a vertical wall at an angle of 30 0
with the wall. The coefficient of friction between the ladder and the wall is 0.25 and that
between ladder and floor is 0.38. Find how high a man of weight 1170 N can ascend
before the ladder begins to slip.
2. A force of 300 N is required just to move a certain body up an inclined plane of angle
200, the force acting parallel to the plane. If the angle of inclination of the plane is made
250, the force required being again parallel to the plane is found to be 230 N. Determine
the weight of the body and coefficient of friction.
