Wyatt Miller
Grade 8
History
Total Length: 2 separate 45 minute classes (into a third class if needed to
present)
Analyze Learners
In this class there are:
30 students
16 girls and 14 boys
The age range is between 13 and 14
3 of the students have IEPs
Students should already know how to collect information without
resorting to plagiarism
There is a mix of learning styles in the class but the estimated
percentages are 40% visual, 40% kinesthetic, and 20% auditory
State Objectives
Given an assigned topic from World War II, the students will create an emaze presentation
that lasts a minimum of 5 minutes.

Select Methods, Media, , and Materials

Students will create a presentation on the website emaze about a specific event from WWII,
they will spend the first day collecting information from any of the following resources:
Credible online learning sources
Physical resources (i.e. historical books)
Relevant Media coverage (i.e. Documentaries, interviews, etc.)
After theyve gathered their information they will begin putting together their information as a
presentation, either in class or as homework.
On the second day of class they will be presenting their topic to the class, each presentation
lasting a minimum of 5 minutes.
Utilize Media, Materials, and Methods
There are multiple preparations needed before this lesson takes place:
1.
I must ensure that the emaze site is up and running and
students will be able to register.
2.
The students must have open access to any of the approved
resources they need to access.
3.
Most of the class work will require computers so I will need to
ensure the class has reserved the use of the media center.
4.
Before having the students begin I will show them an example
presentation to give them an idea of how to start the process.
5.
Each student will be given a copy of the rubric, outlining the

expectations for each of their assignments.

Require Learner Participation

To ensure everyone is equally involved each student will be required to do their own
research and create their own presentations. For students that are having trouble with either
the research stage or the composition of their presentation help will readily be given to get
them on the right track without doing the work for them.
Evaluate & Revise
Student Performance: Consult the attached rubric
Media Effectiveness: The students will give an educated evaluation of their chosen media,
based upon its content, accuracy, and understandability.
Instructor Performance: To gauge the effectiveness of the lesson the students will be given
a brief quiz on the covered topics. Once the quiz is over I will ask them if they felt the
presentations helped them prepare or if there is another method in which they feel they
might have learned better.
