Title Page (5 points)

The purpose of the title page is to provide the reader with a professional and attractive
cover to your report. This is the first page the reader will see; therefore, this page needs
to represent your state while looking neat and professional.

The title page should include the following:


Title
Your Name
Date
An image of the political borders (outline) of your state.
Any other pictures or text that will intrigue your reader.

Table of Contents (5 points)

The purpose of the Table of Contents is for your reader to: 1.) Know what they will read
in your report and 2.) Tell your reader where they can find information based on the list
of topics.

The Table of Contents should include the following:


The Table of Contents will be the second page of your report.
Title on the top of the page that says, Table of Contents
A list of topics and the corresponding page number(s)
Each topic headline will be formatted like a title with all words
except for articles and helping verbs capitalized.

Introduction (5 points)

The introduction page hooks your readers interest and makes them want to continue
reading your report. It introduces the reader to your state and describes what makes
your state unique.

The Introduction must include the following:


A title that identifies the page as an introduction to the report.
This page is located directly after the Table of Contents.
A hook that grabs your readers attention so that they are
interested and want to continue reading your report.
Basic facts about your state.
Introduce the main points you will be discussing in your report.
The introduction page should have no less than 5 sentences and
no more than 2 paragraphs.

History (5 points)

The purpose of this section is to introduce the important historical events that have
taken place in your state. We have learned that history allows us to understand how
the areas past shapes the present.

This section should include the following:


Date it became a state in the USA
How your state received its statehood.
Important dates in your states history including but not limiting:
Important events
Early exploration and explorers
Native American Tribes
European Settlers
Picture(s) with captions relating to the history of your state.

Culture (5 points)

The purpose of this section is for the reader to learn about the traditions, beliefs, and
ways of life that are unique to your state.

This section should include the following:


Cultural attractions to the state.
Ways in which the residents of the state enjoy the state that is
unique to the state.
Art that is unique to the region.
Special cultural regions of the state.
Special traditions celebrated in the state.
Picture(s) with captions relating to the culture of our state.

Economy (5 points)

The purpose of this section is for the reader to learn how the people in the area make a
living that is unique to the state.

This section should include the following:


Tourist attractions
Agriculture (crops)
Industry
Fishing
Manufacturing
Mining
Picture(s) with captions relating to the economy of your state.

Geography (5 Points)

The purpose of this section is for the reader to learn about your states land and water
features as well as weather patterns that are related to your state.

This section should include the following information:


Map of your state that includes:
Title
Name and location of capital city
Major rivers
Major cities
National parks/State parks
Mountain ranges
Other important land and water features
Natural Resources including but not limiting the following:
Forests
Minerals
Waterways
Oil
Any other natural resource that is important to your state
that is directly related to its geography.
Weather/Climate
Average Weather
Temperatures
Seasons
Precipitation
Anything else you find interesting about the
weather/climate in your state
Picture(s) with captions relating to the geography of your state.

Conclusion (5 points)

The purpose of the conclusion is to summarize what the reader learned about your
state and persuade them to visit your state.

The section should include the following:


3 main points regarding your state
3 reasons why the reader should visit your state.

Proofreading/Editing (5 points)

It is expected that you will have a well written report that demonstrate proper use of
our English language.

You will be graded based on the following components:


Spelling
Punctuation
Capitalization
Paragraph structure
Sentence structure

Bibliography (5 points)

The purpose of the Bibliography is to identify where you gathered your


research.
The bibliography will include:
A list of 3 resources that you used. The sources must be different
types of sources as listed below:
Websites
Books
CDs
People
Magazines
Encyclopedias
Brochures
Pamphlets
Each source must be correctly formatted and listed in
alphabetical order. You will find examples below for how to format
your sources.

Formatting Your Bibliography

Authors last name, First name. Title. Place of publication: publisher,
