Beam Design Project last semester. This project involves the design, manufacturing,
and testing of an advanced beam constructed of, limited to a deflection of 0.01" on
the bottom surface, a maximum allowed stress of 10,000 PSI, and a maximum mass
of 60% of the blank material's mass.
Engine Design Project this semester. This project involves the complete process,
from design to production of a pneumatically powered piston engine. The engine
must meet certain criteria, as well as be aesthetically pleasing to a young age
group, and complex enough to be engaging.

Demonstrate proficient use of CAD/CAM systems, including AutoCAD, NX 9/10,and


Master CAM.

Collaborated in a group setting to successfully reverse engineer a Kobelco miniexcavator, as well as run the CAD model through Finite Element Analysis using
cylinder forces and loads to assess stress, Resulting in a very successful project and
a high finishing grade.
Designed and developed a simply supported beam that was subject to real world
testing, as well as produce a 37 page, ten thousand word report outlining the
process and the results. This resulted in a successful beam, that met the criteria,
and an impressive report, earning 100% on the report.
