EXT.

BASKETBALL COURT - LATE AFTERNOON

It is a sunny afternoon. School has finished, and GILAD
and TSURI play basketball in the court behind the school
building. They run and dodge each other, chasing a
BASKETBALL and trying to get it in their hoop. It is hot,
and they have been playing for a while; they are sweaty,
out of breath.
GILAD tries to shoot a hoop, but TSURI jumps up in front
of him and hits the ball offcourt. TSURI cheers and pumps
his fist in the air while GILAD, dejected, walks slowly to
the bushes where the ball has landed.
A bush obstructs GILADs view of the ball, but as he gets
closer he sees that the ball has landed on the HEADLESS
CORPSE of a man.
GILAD freezes, his mouth dropping open in shock. A few
meters away from the HEADLESS CORPSE is the HEAD of the
body, with his eyes closed, a monobrow and a cleft in his
chin.
TSURI (OS)
Come on man, hurry up!
GILAD looks back in TSURIs direction nervously, then
shakily steps forward. He slowly reaches for the ball,
touching it with only the tips of his fingers and gently
lifting it off the HEADLESS CORPSE. Blood and bodily
fluids drip from the ball, and a small LIZARD climbs out
from underneath. GILAD looks sick. He backs away and holds
the ball at arms length.
TSURI steps up next to GILAD, having come over to
investigate. His eyes are wide.
GILAD shoves the ball into TSURIs hands and runs to a
nearby drinking fountain, frantically washing his hands.
The water runs clear, but he continues to scrub with an
almost manic look on his face.
TSURI follows him over with the ball in his hands,
laughing.
TSURI
Come on, its just a little
blood.
GILAD ignores him.
POLICE SIRENS are heard in the distance, getting louder.
TSURI abruptly stops laughing and looks around nervously.
He drops the ball and darts to the HEAD, picking it up by
the hair with no hesitation and running off.

GILAD looks up from where he is still scrubbing his hands,

confusedly looking around for his friend.
Two POLICEMEN run up next to GILAD, one moving over to the
HEADLESS CORPSE with his gun ready, and the other pulling
GILAD away.
INT. LIVING ROOM - EVENING
RONNY sits cross-legged in front of the TV on the ground,
in a small, slightly messy living room. A news story is
playing, and the screen cuts from the reporter to footage
of the HEADLESS CORPSE with POLICEMEN examining it.
The front door opens and GILAD steps through, looking
tired. He drops his bag next to the couch and sits down
heavily, staring at the TV with vacant eyes.
REPORTER
... and besides, there is
something else the crime unit was
not able to discover, and thats
the head.
GILAD
(quietly)
... He took it.
RONNY turns his head to look at GILAD behind him.
RONNY
What?
A pause.
GILAD
He took it. The head. Thats why
the police couldnt find it.
RONNYs mouth drops open and he looks back at the TV, then
back at GILAD, and he scoots closer.
RONNY
Wait, you were there? Why? What
happened? Who took it? Did you
see it? Was there blood and guts
everywheRONNY looks eager at the prospect of gore. GILAD
interrupts.
GILAD
We were playing basketball. Me
and Tsuri, man. And we saw the
body, and the head, and the cops
were coming, and next thing I

know Tsuri disappears with the
head.
RONNY looks confused.
RONNY
Why?
GILAD
I have no fucking clue.
INT. SHWARMA DINER - EARLY AFTERNOON
TSURI sits at a small table, lounging back in his seat
with his feet on the table. He is eating a pita.
GILAD and RONNY enter, making their way to TSURIs table.
GILAD waves, and TSURI gives him a nod.
RONNY stops in front of TSURI.
RONNY
You think youre funny. But if
that was your father and they
stole his head, you wouldnt
think it was funny at all.
TSURI looks slightly stunned, midway between chewing his
bite, but quickly grows angry. He slowly rises from his
chair, leaning threateningly towards RONNY.
TSURI
You feel like a hero, huh,
Shostak? Why, cause your hoop
star cousins standing next to
you? But even he knows that if
youre still here when I finish
this pita, his whole
meter-fucking-eighty wont help
you, and Ill beat the shit out
of both of you.
TSURI emphasises his words, jabbing a finger at the other
two boys. RONNY recoils and GILAD steps up, placing his
body in between the two boys. One arm is outstretched in
front of RONNY, the other held in a placating gesture
towards TSURI.
GILAD
Whatre you getting so pissed
about? Its only Ronny saying
what he thinks.
TSURI leans around GILADs arm, breathing heavily. He
points his finger at RONNY.

TSURI
You better watch your mouth kid,
or who knows whatll happen.
GILAD steers RONNY out the diner, looking worriedly back
at TSURI. TSURI glares after them and sits back down,
finishing his pita.
