CLASSROOM PROCEDURES KINDERGARTEN LINING UP IN LINE When the class is Lining up the students will be quietly sitting on the carpet. I will call each row to Line up one by one to keep order. I will teach this procedure for the first couple of weeks by practicing it and showing them how to do it. The students should pick up on this procedure rather quickly but if they do not I will point out the classmates that are doing it correctly and the ripple effect will occur. I will know that the students have successfully completed the procedure when the students are quietly sitting on the carpet waiting to hear their row called and when it is they get up and get into a straight Line. BATHROOM/DRINK There will be sheets of paper in the wall that say bathroom, drink, nurse, etc. When the students need to get a drink or go to the bathroom they will move the clip to indicate where they are going. This is important because it will keep chaos from happening and they will not interrupt me every couple of minutes instead, they just move the clip. I will teach this over the course of the first couple of weeks by having them begin with raising their hand and telling them to move the clip. They will slowly transition into moving the clip without asking. For the students who do not understand I will continue to remind them of the procedure until they pick it up on their own. TURNING IN PAPERS On a table in the front of the room there will be 4 trays labeled math, science, social studies, and Language Arts. The students will turn in papers when they are finished with them, according to the subject we are in. This will keep everything organized and efficient to check. This procedure will be taught during the first couple of weeks of school and I will show them where exactly to turn it in. If a student has trouble with this procedure I will continue to remind them exactly where to turn the paper in until they can do it on their own. HOMEWORK At the beginning of each week the students will be given new homework to complete throughout the week and on Friday they will be expected to turn the homework in the tray labeled homework. This will give me a chance to check their progress and help with items not understood.I will teach them this procedure at the beginning of the year by reminding them every Thursday that their homework is due tomorrow. If a student struggles I will give them a couple of chances to turn it in on Monday but after a while there will be consequences for not turning it in for me to check. STITING QUIETLY At the beginning of class the students are expected to be sitting quietly facing the front on the carpet waiting for class to begin. This gives me a chance to get everything ready for class and begin with a quiet classroom. I will remind the students that this is expected by me everyday. The students that struggle will be reminded of my expectations everyday until they understand. WEEKLY DUTIES There will be weekly duties every week as in a Lights person a messenger, a table captain, etc. These duties will be decided by me on Monday and will change the next Monday. This will help me out as a teacher because certain jobs will already be decided. They will all be reminded the first couple of weeks what each duty is until they understand, LINE LEADER AND KABOOSE When the students Line up in line there will be a specified line leader and kaboose anytime we line up. This will ensure that I know where the line begins and ends. I will instruct the students during the first couple of weeks of school on how to do this procedure. The students who do not understand this procedure will not be leader or kaboose until I feel that they understand. LEAVING FOR THE DAY There will be designated areas in the room for each type of after school care (Daycare, Car Riders, Bus Riders and Walkers). The students will be expected to sit in that area at the end of the day until it is time to leave. This will organize the students before the end of the day chaos hits and the students will be ready ready to go. They will be taught the first week of school where to sit and wait. For the students who do not understand it I will have to continue to show them exactly where to go when they have to leave. A successful completion will look Like all of the kids sitting in the right spot when it is time to go. LEAVING CARPET FOR INDEPENDENT WORK When the students leave the carpet to complete their ‘independent work I will call each row to get up, they will be expected to get up quietly, get their pencil box and take a seat. They will sit quietly in their seat until I have given ‘them the instructions on their assignment. This will save time and chaos by the students getting up in an organized manner. I will teach them this procedure during the first couple of weeks by reminding them what to do every time they get up to go to their seat. For the students that struggle I will keep reminding them personally how it is done. A successful completion will look like the students getting up ‘in an organized fashion and getting their pencil box. CLEANING UP At the end of the day before the students Line up to leave, they will be expected to stack up their chairs, clean up any trash that is left on the floor or tables and put away their pencil box. This will leave my room just as clean as when they came in and it teaches them respect for the custodians. They will be reminded everyday for the first couple of weeks what they are expected to do and for the students who struggle, they will have a consequence until they can complete the procedure. A successful completion will look Like the students cleaning up without me having to remind them.
