INSTRUMENT Supervisor Feedback on Candidate Self-Reflection
OVERALL COMMENT: Dear Lena,
I enjoyed visiting you and observing your Math lesson at Portola Springs Elementary School in
Irvine. In engaging your students and using the questioning strategies, they were given the
opportunity to participate in the lesson in the positive environment for learning. The questions
you asked involved reasoning and were open-ended. In connecting prior academic learning to
the lesson you presented, you were able to show how the strategies connected to each other.
Your explanations helped to develop student understanding.
Lena, your ideas for working with your EL students are definitely worth implementing with
your pupils. Visual and sentence frames are regularly used as supports for EL students.
I appreciate your being so organized and well prepared to teach your lesson. I look forward to
our next lesson observation visit!
All the Best,
Dorothy Flynn
