1960s, 1970s and 1980s Pop Culture Project

Assignment: Our task is to research the trends of the 1970s and 1980s and create a
visual presentation. It will provide information about the influence and importance of
these trends to history.
Specific Instructions:
Visual Component: You need to create a multi-media presentation (Powerpoint, Prezi,
poster, etc.) on the trends of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
a. Your presentation should incorporate visual images created from your own
hand, graphic images you create on the computer, images taken from
photographs and magazines, or most ideally, a combination of the three.
b. If you create a Powerpoint or Prezi, you should blend both visuals as well as add
in audio-visual clips.
Written Component: Your poster or presentation must include specific, factual
information and detailed descriptions of experiences, key figures, or other relevant
information on the popular trends.
a. Your poster or presentation must contain a written element to accompany every
photo or audio-visual clip.
b. You can add your written information can be a first-person account or an interview,
a poem or lyrics, or it can be a fact-sheet that details important information
about the trends or people.
In order to create your presentation you will need to.

Research information about the topics. More specifically, find out about the popular
trends and take notes on the trends, key people, or places associated with it. Notes
should highlight how the trend was shaped by the decade, as well as how the trend
itself shaped the culture and history of the 1970s and 1980s.
Select photographs/images/video clips that offer a visual about your topics. Save
these images to your desk
EXTRA CREDIT: Select music to accompany your presentation. You must select at
least 3-4 songs to sample throughout your presentation. Music should have some
connection to the trends you have chosen (If you talk about Michael Jackson, use
some of his music)
Remember that if you find any information on a website that you cut and paste, that it is
considered PLAGARISM if you do not cite it! (Give the website/author credit for their
work!)

Tips and Reminders:

This is not a death-sentence assignment for those that are artistically challenged.
First, focus on your strengths and work from there. Secondly, thanks to the age of

technology, you can use computers, magazines, and scissors so you arent doomed
to drawing original pieces of art.
Neatness counts! Presentation is doubly important in an assignment such as this!
Neatness is equally important as creativity.
