Structural Reform #15: Six-Credit Student Choice (TC and other)

1. Eliminate the existing Student Choice (Depth or IN) and Interdisciplinary (ID)
categories.
2. Create a new Scientific & Technical Communication (TC) designation. AA and
AS students take one course from this category.
3. Create ONE additional designation, such as Global & International Learning
(GI), Applied Science & Technology (AS), Wicked Problems (WP), First Year
Exploration (EX), Interdisciplinary, or other. AA and AS students take one
course from this category.
Scientific & Technical Communication (TC)
Courses that build skills and abilities in communication of information in mediums
such as writing, speaking, multimedia, digital, data visualization, and others.
Courses in this designation may focus on communication from the lens of other
disciplines outside of communication.
NOTE: The benefit of the Scientific & Technical Communication (TC) over the
proposed Communication and Argumentation (CA) or Communication, Thinking, and
Argumentation (CA) is that is integrates technical communication in a variety of
subject areas including STEM and fine arts.
