INTRODUCTION /
PROJECT BRIEF
In this assessment I will be designing a new logo and brochure
for the school, that appeals to the 11-16 year old pupils of the
school, future pupils of the school and parents of 9/10-16 year
olds children. This logo will need to be suitable for the
newsletters, sports kit, signs, the website and the uniform. This
logo would be known in the area as the logo of Cove school.
I will be going online to look for inspiration and ideas to put
into a mood board. I will then be drawing 2 prototype logos;
then I will create the one I like best on fireworks, but it ended
up being a mix of both because I couldnt decide which one I
liked best.

MOOD BOARD

SKETCHED PROTOTYPES
For my logo I have designed two different ones. In both designs I have used a
shield shape for the background, I decided to use a shield because it very
traditional.
On the first design I have divided the shield into four sections and each section
has a different colour background the colours are green, blue, red and yellow
the house colours. The green one has a book on it because it is Austen house
and she was an author. The blue background has swords on it because it is
Montgomery house. The red one has a cannon on it because it is Wellington
house. The yellow background has an aeroplane on it because it is Cody house.
In the middle of the logo it has a black box with the letters C.C.S in royal blue
because it stands for Cove Comprehensive School. Across the top it has a black
banner with royal blue writing saying Advancement & Values. These will be serif
fonts.
For the second design, the background will be light blue with black underlined
letters C.C.S in a serif font and underneath that in yellow A&V underlined which
stands for Advancement & Values also a serif font.

For my final logo I think I am going to incorporate elements from both.

MY LOGOS

This is my first attempt

at my logo.

This is my final logo.

HOW I MADE MY LOGO

I started my
logo with a
green square.

Then added
yellow square
the same size.

And added a
blue triangle.

And then A&V

which stands for
the school motto
Advancement
and Values.

I put the letters

C.C.S that stand
for Cove
Comprehensive
School.

I added
another white
circle to make
it match the
other side.

And then a red

triangle to make
the basic shape
of my shield.

I then put a
white circle
over the top to
get the shape I
wanted.

USING FIREWORKS
I used layers to
make it easier
to see which
part of my logo I
was working on.

These are the tools I used to create my final logo, they are
the vector tools. I used the shape tool to create the basis
of my logo then I used the text tool to create the writing

There was a big

choice of fonts
including both serif
and san serif. I
chose a serif font
because I think it
makes it look more
professional.

FILE TYPES
I have saved my logo as both a
PNG file and a GIF file.
A PNG (Portable Network
Graphics) File so if I wanted to
change it I can, and a GIF
(Graphic Interchange Format)
File to make it one picture rather
than lots of layers.

HOW YOU COULD USE

THE LOGO
These are some of the
many ways you could
use the logo I created.
Some other ways might
be on the school
newsletter/ letters home,
brochures and on signs
around the school.

School uniform

School website

School sports kit

I changed the
original picture by
taking out the part
of the image
sharpening the rest
of the image and
then putting back in
the bit that I took out
and changed it to
black and white
then blurred it. I then
added what
department it was
for and then my logo
to show that it could
be used in a variety
of ways.

FEEDBACK AND ACTION

Logo prototype sketch

Great detail-try to make the second design

a little easier to read-there is a lot going on
here.

I have made the next

design a lot simpler so
there is less annotations
making it easier to read.

First logo

Too much writing, try and cut it down. I like

the choice of colours.

I abbreviated the school

name to three letters to
make it less busy.

Final logo

this is a simple but bold logo that captures

some key school features such as the motto.
To improve, it might be good to make the
writing bolder and possibly put a white
outline around writing because a dark font
can be hard to see on a dark background.
