ISSUE OF BARCODE BASED PASS BOOK TO FI CUSTOMERS
We refer to our letter No. RB/AC/SB/504 dated 25.06.2013 advising that passbook to
customers at BC channel can be issued only by the link branch and in no case can a
passbook be issued at the BC/CSP outlet by the CSP operator. Our FI portfolio has been
increasing steadily and there is repeated representation from customers of BC channel
for issue of passbook. Department of Financial Services (DFS), GOI has directed Bank
to issue passbook to all FI customers and monitor the progress periodically.
2. In this context, it has been decided to issue barcode based passbook to all FI
customers maintaining balance in the account. Circles may ensure provision of adequate
barcode based passbook printing machine (SWAYAM) to branches with large portfolio
of FI accounts to enable FI customers to get the passbook printed/updated by themselves
at the passbook printers. Pending installation of barcode based passbook printers; the
passbook has to be printed at the regular passbook printer at the branches.
3. Please arrange to procure adequate number of barcoded passbooks as well as printers
and ensure deployment of printers.
4. As the issuance of passbooks is being monitored by the DFS, branches should keep
track of passbooks issued to FI customers.
