LESSON ORGANISATION

(based on Australian Curriculum: Health & Physical Education)

Intention: Students will be allocated there own individual roles to be carried out throughout the SEPEP program, this will require responsibility,
maturity, knowledge and enthusiasm. Specifically students will be learning and understanding the role of the coach, fixture/scoreboard manager and
statistician (as this was our assigned 3 roles).
Pre-lesson organisation:
- understanding the apps; CoachNote, Dartfish and Scoreboard- AFL and how to use them
- pre created scenarios for students to create activities within the apps
- sufficient numbers of iPads for every student or 1 between each group of 3-4

Teacher stands up the front and discusses that an important part of the SEPEP program is assigning roles to
each student in order to carry out the tournament
States all the roles
Then assigns students to their respective roles
Teacher now discusses each app in depth

With the Scorekeeper HD app for football, I
want you to do this:
1 Put in the team's players in your App
and select a 5 minute game

What Role Does a Statistician Play?


The role of a statistician is to record the
plays that happen in the game, players
stats (goals, marks etc.) and analyze
key stats and apply the knowledge to
the team

Students will now access the scoreboardafl app on the Ipad and record scores from
simulated matches created by the teacher
consisting of 1 goal for the tigers, 1 point
for Carlton
Once this is completed they will then move
into creating fixtures for the SEPEP
tournament for their respective teams

Role of a person on Scoreboard

The person responsible of the


scoreboard is to accurately record a
game's score. Every time a team kicks a
goal or a behind then the scorekeeper is
to update the score so everyone knows
the score.
Fixture Maker
The person responsible for fixtures is to
make the fixtures for the whole
competition. They need to remember to
make it fair and they also need to make
a finals bracket or system as well.

app via the Ipads, the activity will be to
create the scenario drills created by the
teacher that are on the board
These will consist of drawing full ground
drills in which they might incorporate
themselves as a coach for their team

They may create drills with cones, players


and movements of lines etc. within the
application on the diagrams the app
provides
The teacher will then ask the students
what the drill is, what skill it focuses on and
why they would use it themselves as
coaches to enhance understanding
through learning experience

Definition of a Coach (within a


football setting):
A coach's objective is to provide
expertise and leadership for the players
and staff within a club which assists in
fulfilling there overall aims and goals.
They provide direction, instruction and
training in the operations of the sporting
team and/or individual sportspeople.

Role and responsibilities of the Coach:


- Develop a code of conduct for the
coaching staff and players that supports
the objectives of the club on and off the
field
- Establish relationships with the players
and other staff members
- Manage the recruitment of players
- Establish and develop a pre-season
training regime
- Assist with development of younger
players where possible and at
appropriate times
- Provide coaching expertise and
leadership
