Logo:
My logo is explained by the Hindu
proverb, which states: Help thy
brothers boat across, and Lo! Thine
own has reached the shore. This
signifies that by assisting others to
reach their goals and full potential, we
also reach our own potential and
accomplish the most good.

becoming board certified in geriatrics

Artifact:
Scouting has been a part of my life for many years. As
a way to provide the possibility for boys to enjoy
having similar learning experiences and gain useful
leadership and life skills, I participated in organizing a
Boy Scout fundraiser for a local troop. This fundraiser
was to assist the troop to attend scout camp where
they would learn skills and values that would benefit
them throughout life.

Leadership Theory Analysis:

My leadership style is a transformational leadership style using the Leadership Practices Inventory by Kouzes
and Posner in order to influence others to willingly follow (The Leadership Challenge, n.d.). In order to influence other individuals to follow and become the best they can become, five practices have been identified,
which include 1) Model the way, 2) Inspire a shared vision, 3) Challenge the process, 4) Enable others to act,
and 5) Encourage the heart (Phipps, 2015). People identified characteristics they desired in a leader that
they would be willing to follow, such as honesty, dependable, determined, and caring, which correlate well
with my mission and strengths (The Leadership Challenge, n.d.). Using these practices along with my mission
of providing honest, dedicated, caring, responsible and committed service will help others reach their full
potential and generate the highest levels of performance (Dvir, Eden, Avolio, & Shamir, 2002, p. 736).
