Beforeputtingpaintdownonyourfinal
project,testoutcolorsonscrappaper.
Holdthebrushupstraightwhenpainting
Thisallowsthepainttoflow
evenlyfromthebrush.
Paintthelightestcolorsfirst,thendark
darkcolorsaremuchharderto
removeaftertheyhavebeenlaiddown,whereaslightcolorsmayalwaysbe
darkened.
Keepyourbrushclean
youdontwanttomuddyupyourcolorsormess
upyourpainting.Takethetimetochangethewaterfrequently.
Addwatertoaddlightness
watercolorsarenotlightenedordarkenedby
addingwhiteorblack.Instead,watercoloristsaddwatertomakeacolor
lighter(lesssaturated)oruselesswatertomakeacolorappeardarker(more
saturated).
Keeppapertowelshandyforblotting
althoughthereisnowayto
completelyremovepaintonceithasbeenlaiddown,gentlyblottingthearea
withapapertowelwillremovemostofthepigmentsoitcanberepainted.
Makesurethatthisnewlayerdoesnotoversoakthepaper.Youmayalso
wanttoremovewaterfromyourbrushattimes.
