Introduction
Hello and welcome to my Physical Education class for the 2016-2017 school year. In
Physical Education, my class will be taught various games and activity levels, in which
designed to develop loco motor skills through three developmental stages. Through the
first developmental stage, students learn movement concepts through theme development
and body management skills. In developmental II, students are refined of fundamental
skills and initial specialized skills are emphasized. During this level, students are
introduced to sport skills. And finally through developmental III, students continue to
learn and improve sport skills but are more focused on manipulative activities. This level
also focuses on participation with cooperative sport lead up games.
Goals and Objectives
My goals and objectives for my students are based upon the National Physical Education
Standards, SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators). SHAPE defines towards
what students should know and understand as a result of a quality physical education
program. The Standards for SHAPE are:

Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a

variety of motor skills and movement patterns.


Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts,

principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.


Standard 3 - The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and

skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and


fitness.
Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and

social behavior that respects self and others.


Standard 5 - The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical
activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.

Required Dress Code:

Must have athletic sneakers (no sandals, slippers, boots and any open toe shoes)
Large jewelry must be removed
School appropriate shirt and shorts/pants that are accordance with the class (no
dresses or any other clothing that will inhibit any loco motor movements)

Classroom management/ Basic Rules

Take care of the equipment
YOU are responsible for your own actions!!!
Time Outs/Consequences
1st offense will be a warning.
2nd offense will be a time out and the students will decide when they are ready to
come back in.
3rd offense is a time out with the teachers approval to come back in. After class,
there will be a students-teacher conference.
4th offense, the principal the parent(s)/guardian(s) will be involved.
Excused/Unexcused Absences
It is important that all sick or injury notes be brought to the nurse first to be documented
before given to the teacher. Please include the following information in the note that is
submitted to the nurse:
Describe the reason for missing class. What is the nature of the sickness or injury?
How many days will your child be sitting out of P.E.?
What is the best way to contact you should we have follow-up questions? Without a note
from either the parent(s)/guardian(s), the doctor or the nurse, your child will not be
excused from P.E. and will lose participation points for the day.
