IcanstillvividlyrecallthememoryofthedayIsawthelabsofcivilengineeringdepartmentinopenhouse
programat****Institute,Guntureightyearsago.Itsmachineryandthetestingmachinesinterestedmealot.I
believethatthebestwaytopredictthefutureistomakeit.Withthisbelief,Ialwaysplannedandexecutedmylife
towardspredeterminedgoals.Iworkedtowardsandsecuredadmissionforanundergraduateprogramincivil
engineeringin****,GunturwhichisratedoneamongthebestengineeringcollegeinsouthIndia.
OnceIsecuredadmissiontooneofthemostcompetitiveandrigorouscivilengineeringprogramsinIndia,I
structuredviewofwhatImightdohere.ButIfoundcivilengineeringevenmoreinterestingandchallengingthan
whatIhadimagined.Rightfromthesecondyear,mykindofpreparationwastogainknowledgeandsubjectin
depthratherthanjustgettingmarksthoughIwasabletoputupgoodmarksonboard.Myunclebeingacivil
engineeraddedtomyfurtherinspirationtodefinemycareergoals.
AboutUndergraduatestudy,IfeelisnotadenouementofwhatIcallajourneytowardsexcellenceand
competence.Graduatestudyasequeltoundergraduatestudyopensupneweravenuestoexploreandgivesonea
widerrangeofcareerobjectives.Myschoolingatelementaryandhighschoolhasgivenandexcellentcommandin
basicsofmathematicsandscienceandmoreimportantlyignitedinmestronginterestincivilengineering.
InthiseverchangingworldofEngineeringandTechnology,whereeachnewdayseesaspateofnewconcepts
andapplicationsandeachpassingdaymakesthemobsolete,Iwanttoattainthehighestlevelofeducationand
transcendnewhorizonsinthechosenfield.Thevastapplicationpotentialandtremendousscopeforhighcareerin
civilengineeringalwaysfascinatedmeandIamkeentocontinuemyacademicpursuitinthisfield.
CivilengineeringasIbelieveistheonlyfieldwhereonesworkcanbeseenandfeltdirectlybythesensesand
anythingdonestaysforevertothecredit.Ifeelthatthisisthefieldwhichrequireslotofpatience,perseverance
andmanagementskillstobesuccessful.Thesearequalitieswhichneedtobenurturedwithlotofmotivationand
hardworkandmycollegeprovedtomearightplaceforthisobjective.
Nowatthisjunctionofmycareer,IamconfidentthatwhenImakethetransitionintomastersprogram,Iwillbe
buildingonastrongfoundationgainedinthepastyears.Mystrategyforgraduatestudywill,therefore,bea
prolongedonewhereinIshallbeconsolidatingmyknowledgeinamorespecializedwayandacquiretheskills
usedfortheresearch.MyfieldofinterestincivilengineeringisEnvironmentalengineeringwhichhasgainedlotof
prominenceinrecentyearsbothinIndiaandabroad.Thisinteresthasintuitedmetotakeadvancedcourseslike
EnvironmentalScienceandEngineeringandWasteWaterManagementinmyfinalyearaselectivesubjects.
Iamapplyingforyourcollegeonanaccountofitsexcellentresearchfacilitiescombinedwithdistinguishedand
dedicatedfaculty.Myadmissionintoyouresteemedinstitutionisofparamountimportanceformycareer.Withmy
theoreticalknowledgeandpracticalskillIamwellequippedtomeetyourexpectations.IamconfidentthatIwould
surelysynchronizetoyourstandards.IhopeIwillbefavorablyconsideredforadmissionforgraduatestudywith
possiblefinancialassistance.
