HowhaveIdevelopedthiscompetencyduringthiscourseorprofessionalseminar/fieldexperience?
Students,
especially in the higher grades, are immersed in technology. During this field experience I attempted to tap into my
secondary
4 and 5 students love of technology by making a class website where I posted announcements, notes, worksheets,
homework,
videos of demonstrations shown in class. There was also a comment box where students could ask me questions
concerning
the material outside of class hours.
With
technology at our fingertips, I often used ICT in class to demonstrate concepts from alternative perspectives. For
example,
when teaching the chemistry students about reversible reactions, I used a computer simulation to show my students
was happening in a reaction at the microscopic level compared to what we could see macroscopically as we performed it
what
during
class.
Regarding critical judgement, I am quick to penalize my students when they take information from the internet without
adequately putting it in their own words or citing their source. This helps them to realize the seriousness of plagarism and
shows

how
