As a mentally strong person, I will add a slightly different aspect. Regarding Singh's #3 - I think a lot, not less,
therefore do more meaningful things better (total INTJ). Also, regarding #7, I am very future-oriented so analyze
possible outcomes before taking actions when possible. Other than that, I agree with his thoughts! Going through
various challenges in our lives can help us to be mentally strong or cause us to fall apart - it is our choice.

Death and Dying

You are an atheist and you die, then you realize that there is a life after death,
and you see God smiling at you, how do you react?
"Well, how about that, I was wrong. Pleased to meet you," walking forward with
outstretched hand. "I want to compliment you on horses and cats, absolutely wonderful,
wonderful creatures. But I have some notes here... (takes out handy notepad)... yeah... Can
you explain why such a thing as cancer exists? What about war? Poverty? Starvation in the
midst of plenty? Ebola? Yeah, that's a wowzer right there.... Mosquitoes? Yellow fever?
Malaria? Rheumatoid arthritis? Really, any autoimmune disease... Intolerance?
"And why do so many of the people who claim to believe in you and worship you and follow
your rules for living seem to spend so much of their time hatingeveryone they don't see eyeto-eye with? To the extent of cutting their heads off with dull knives? I mean, really!! What
got lost in translation there?"
And we'd head off to have a nice glass of ice tea and some cookies while he explained why all
the shit happening in the world is A Good Thing.... not that he'd be able to convince me that
a child dying in agony from starvation is a good thing.

Karma

The closest that I have come to that was once, upon leaving a party, I spontaneously had the
experience that when I walked outside I had not just left my apartment, but that I had
also walked into the world. By that I mean that I had the sense of all of the places on Earth
being present, and separated only by the time that it takes to travel there.
This tarot card from the Voyager deck reminds me of it:
It wasn't surreal like that at all though, it was very concrete and grounded in the locality of
Earth - the trees, the buildings, all of the people sitting in front of blue lit screens, it was just
that I had pivoted from the usual feeling of the world being 'out there' to it being 'right here'.
I have occasionally been able to tap into that feeling, especially while traveling, but I get the
sense that with practice it is a state of mind that can be experienced all of the time if you
wanted to. It's about seeing the world as a place which you've never been, yet which is filled
with reminders about where you are. In that state of mind, the universe seems closer also,
and the daylight sky seems more like a blue blindfold that holds back the rest of the
universe.

What makes you alive; your breath or your soul? If the person is brain dead,
then what are the functions done in his body, whether he may be dead by soul or
by body?
First, your question is built on a false premise. Your 'breath' is not what keeps you alive.
What keeps you alive is homeostasis, which is managed by your brain. It means your body is
functioning normally, without anything going so horribly wrong that it could destroy it.
You're alive. You're functioning normally.
A satisfactory answer to your question really depends on what you mean by "alive" and
"dead". You seem to think that being alive means you're breathing. But that isn't true. When
you hold your breath to dive underwater, you don't just die. You can stay alive for a while.
You don't have a soul. A 'soul' is an idea made up by people who were too baffled by the
human mind (and dreams) to understand what they really were. They also did not have the
technology to understand that there doesn't need to be some sort of 'spirit' that allowed
humans to function. What makes you function as you do is your brain. It keeps your body
stable and up and running.
Being 'brain dead' means the person is legally dead, but they're being kept alive by
machines. The brain is what's responsible for your heart beating and every other function. If
your brain is dead, you are dead.
As for the very last part of your question, I have absolutely no idea what you mean.
Iraq and Syria are in relatively bad state because of the US invasion! That has
nothing to do with Islam. The fact is, they have maintained their status due to
Islam.

As I've posted a few times, I try to stay out of discussions of 'enlightenment', mainly because
it always seems to be framed in the "ruler model of transformation".
The "ruler model" refers to the notion of measuring something on a single dimension, like a
ruler with a mark on the end. Of course you walk along in that dimension and then finally
you get to the end, right? Then you get to classify yourself by whatever measure the mark
represents. And of course we all get to argue about what the ruler is measuring and what
the criteria are for marking that particular spot as "enlightened".
Is it any wonder this topic is confusing for people? Especially when you factor in the
various ways in which people with advanced understanding start expressing "non-dual"
ways of seeing the world, with the abundance of irony, lies-within-truth, inexpressible unity,
and so forth which dominate in that arena.
What I see is that language and thought break down as one gains ever-deeper levels of
understanding and ability to be whole. Because of this breakdown of conceptuality, we lose
the ability to measure and assess beyond a certain point, as any form of measurement and
assessment depends on some kind of stable conceptual framework which holds the ruler in a
fixed position for long enough to take a reading.
I have a link that I hand out sometimes, it identifies "levels of authenticity" -- a kind of
measuring stick. (Levels of authenticity) At the end of that ruler, there's a "stage" called
"coherence"... it doesn't have a very detailed description, it's treated in this essay like a sort
of black hole from which information doesn't escape. But, within that black hole are
worlds: a boundless realm of realms that could not possibly be described or defined.
Being an engineer, I don't think that "boundless realm of realms" is a meaningful term,
except as a way to sweep away any fixed concepts about what "the ultimate truth" might be.
Any notion that one has grasped the ultimate truth is an insult to truth, you could say.
There's always a deeper truth.
