Summary
The story Fly throws light on the fact that me is a great healer and it

Mr.Woodieldcomestoseehisexboss.Heisreredandisaheartpaent.He
praises the new seng and furniture of the oce. Then the boss oers him
whisky.Aerdrinkingit,Mr.Woodieldrememberswhathehasforgoen.He
tellsthebossthathisdaughtershavevisitedthegravesofthebosssaswellas
Mr.Woodseldsson.Actually,theyhavediedinawar.
WhenMr.Woodieldhasgone,thebossremembershisdeadson.Hetriesto
havethesamefeelingsofgriefashefeltonthedayofhisdeath.However,he
fails.Forthelasttry,hedecidestogotothephotographofhisson,butayin
aninkpotaractshisaenon.Heforgetsallabouthisson.
Hetakestheyoutoftheinkpotandputsitonablongpaper.Assoonasthe
yisabouttoy,hedropsadropofinkonitandenjoysitsstruggle.Atlast,the

forgoeneverything.Heisabletorememberaboutthegraveofhissomeaer
drinking whisky. He talks about his son and his grave, but does not feel any

Thenthewritertalksaboutthestateofgriefoftheboss.TheBossbelievedthat
mewouldnotmakeanydierencetohisgrief.Nowhispresentstateofgriefis

feel the same pang of grief that he used to feel. The writer expresses his

Nowthesituaonisdierent.Sixyearshavepassedandhedoesnotfeelthe
same pang of grief. As a last try, he decides to get up and have a look at his
sonsphotograph.Hethinksthatbylookingatthephotographhewillfeelthe
samepangofgriefasheusedtofeel.However,ayintheinkpotaractshis
aenon and he forgets about his son in a moment. He starts enjoying the
struggleoftheybydroppingdropsofinkonit.Aerthedeathofthey,he
tries to remember what it was he thinking before aending to the y, but
