Gun Control
Its not a gun control problem its a cultural problem. Having guns is a good thing because
the United States citizens use guns to hunt for food, and guns have been in the United States
culture since the 1300s. If a citizen of the United States is getting robbed and he did not have a
gun on him because of the government banning carrying firearms, that citizen could get really
hurt, however if he had a gun on him he would be able to stop the crime. The government should
not be able to come to a citizen of the United States and take there gun away, That citizen used
their hard worked money to buy a gun for there own protection. Now, citizens who fought in war
for the United States they are getting firearms taken away that the government gave them in the
first place. The government is now taking veterans guns away from them because they are aging.
The government should not be able to control gun possession once a person purchases a gun
legally because it is now that persons property.
The government should not change the second amendment right to bear arms. The
government should not change something that has been in the United States since the 1300s.
Individuals who have fought in war are even losing this right guaranteed to US citizens.
Veterans are loosing their rights to bear armsthey should be able to have a attorney protect
their rights throughout whole process(McManus). Veterans were given guns to fight for the
United States and now that they are not in the war anymore the government wants to take away

Fox 2
there guns. If the government changes the second amendment a lot of people would get really
mad at the government and their would be a lot of riots going on over the second amendment.
The second amendment shouldnt be changed because of robberys. Once they change
the law there will be more robberys in the United States.
Because the robbers wouldnt be scared of getting shot About 13% people get robbed in
America in Great Britain its about 65%(McManus). If the government does change the second
amendment, house owners would not have anything to protect themselves or there family from a
robber. Then if a store sells a felon a gun without even knowing they are a felon it could cause a
lot of problems and the gun store would probably get shut down and that felon could now hurt
someone really bad.
The government should do background checks before they sell someone a gun. If they are
a felon they should not be able to buy a gun. Therefore if they follow the correct procedures they
should be able to keep their guns. If the government does do the background check on the person
and the person is a felon and got in trouble with guns he or she should not be able to have a gun
in hands. If the government does background checks on everyone it will take longer but then
they would know who to sell guns to and who not to sell guns to. Federal background checks
have rose from 14 million to 12.7 million from 2008 to 20092009 to 2010 they have went
down about 12%(Urbina).
The government should do more background checks which would lead to less armed
robberys. If the government does start doing background checks to everyone their will be less
deaths in the United States and less armed robberys. the bush administration and the FBI did
about 28 million background checksSince Obama became president that number has doubled
to more than 50 million background checks(Sullivan). Less armed robbers would mean fewer

deaths and fewer deaths would mean the United States would be a safer country. Then if the
United States have background checks the people who are not felons that have guns should be
able to carry it with them because its their property and its for their protection.
The government should allow people following the rules to carry a concealed weapon for
their protection. If the government allows citizens of the United States to carry a concealed
weapon for their protection it would help a lot of people out. If the citizens who are carrying a
concealed weapon could stop a crime a robber and anything that could threaten the person
carrying the concealed gun. This year about 12,000 Americans will be shot to death(Fagan).
That number could go down if the government allows citizens following the correct procedures
to get a concealed weapon the people with a concealed weapon usually stops the crime not
commit it. We find is that people who have concealed permits are the ones who commit the
fewest crimes of any in the population(McManus). If the United States puts stricter rules on gun
control people in America it will cause fewer crimes.
Some people feel stricter gun control will prevent crime, but they are wrong. If the
government puts stricter laws on gun control it will not prevent crime, in fact it would start more
crime. Everyone in the United States would get mad that they cant get their guns and it would
start riots all over. If the government does put more laws on guns their will be a lot more crimes.
There would be more robberys armed robberys because the robbers would not be scared of
getting shot knowing that the homeowner probably does not have a gun because of gun control.
In Britain they dont have guns in their homesand robbers are not afraid of getting shot in
Britainbut in America the robbers are afraid to get shot because some homeowners own
guns(McManus).

More gun control laws will make more crimes instead of preventing them. The United
States needs less gun control laws because once the government starts making more laws on gun
control people of America will loose their guns and that gives robbers a chance to steal
homeowners belongings. We should be encouraging people to carry a concealed weapona
church in Colorado springs was able to respond and stop a killer before he could kill
someone(McManus). If someone was not carrying a weapon on them in that church that
killer could have killed a lot of people. The government should not be making more laws on guns
they need to just enforce the laws that are out their right now instead of making more.
Laws already exist to prevent criminals from getting guns they just need to be enforced.
Because if the government keeps making more laws on guns its going to end up to be where no
one can get a gun even if they are not a criminal. More than 30 states have enacted laws making
it easier for anyone without a criminal record to get a permit to carry a concealed
weapon(Winkler).
The government needs to make getting guns more legal and easier for people who do not
have a criminal record. But if a person is trying to buy a gun and they have a criminal record
they should not be able to purchase a gun. Chicago's ban on such firearms was struck down in
2010, the city passed a new law requiring anyone who wanted to keep a handgun at home to
complete an hour of training on a gun range(Winkler). Making it easier for citizens to get guns
would mean more protection and that guns would sell. Having gun shops would mean more jobs
because if the government puts a ban on guns that means that the gun shops would not get any
business so they would have to shut down and United States citizens would lose their jobs.
Making firearms more legal would be a good thing in America we should not ban them because
of accidents that have happen before because the United States can change accidents from

Fox 5
happening in the future by doing background checks on everyone who purchases a gun. Then
United States citizens could keep guns in their house if they have the gun in a secured location
were kids could not get it and the guns should have a lock on the trigger. If everyone does that
their would be a lot less accidents in the United States.
The government should not be able to control gun possession once a person purchases a
gun legally. United States citizens have been loosing their rights to own a concealed weapon
because the government wants to change the second amendment and if they do that their will be
more robberies in the United States. If the government does more background checks on
everyone before they purchase a gun then there would be a lot less crimes and robberies in the
United States. United State citizens should be able to have a concealed weapon in their home for
their protection. If the government puts stricter gun control laws out it will not prevent crime it
would make people of the United States want guns more. The United States already has laws on
guns instead of making more laws on guns the government needs to enforce the laws. If
American citizens put a lock on there gun the United States could have less accidental deaths and
that citizen can use their gun for there protection and then the government might not ban
firearms.
