Corporate Partnership
History
Carolina International School (CIS) was established in the fall of 2004 in Harrisburg, NC as Cabarrus County's first
Charter School. At that time the school hosted Kindergarten through Seventh Grade. The charter was renewed for
10 years in fall of 2014. In 2014 CIS moved into our current campus located 2.5 miles West of Interstate 85 on 82
acres at the corner of Poplar Tent and Cox Mill Rd. The grade levels that are offered are Kindergarten-Twelfth Grade.
CIS Overview
The Corporate Partnership program is dedicated to featuring individuals, businesses, and companies that
support students attending Carolina International School through a unique giving program. Partners enjoy
the exclusive benefit of sharing their products and services with our parents, students, and supporters.
This is an opportunity for Carolina International School to connect with our community. We would like to
help you make your business a success with the support of our students, parents, and our charter school
community.
We are dedicated to our partners and understand the link between business and education. Charter
schools offer alternative means of academic success for students. Businesses look to support education
when they see a value, and know that their contribution is one that can impact individuals and close the
funding gap between what is needed and what is expected.

SOLUTIONS

SERVICE
We will actively seek ways to help others in our school, our community, and our world.
Our Program
Carolina International School's program continues to deepen and discover new ways for our students to
connect learning to the world around them. Ten years after being granted a charter by the state of North
Carolina, our program is more relevant than ever. Our international and environmental focus provides the
framework for learning to ignite interest, relevance, and significance for learning. Our teachers, staff and
administration continually strive to garner the resources needed to perfect our professional practice, and
thus each individual's access to a high quality education.
INTERNATIONAL FOCUS
We strive to deepen our students understanding of our individual and collective place in the world. The
international framework provides a context to explore educational standards within various cultures and
traditions. These comparisons and contrasts create relevance, interest and understanding. International
education is essential to prepare US citizens for the future. Not only is our world increasingly
interconnected and interdependent, our local communities are growing in multicultural diversity. Our
students must develop a broad awareness of other cultures and the differences that distinguish them. But
they must simultaneously acquire a deep understanding of all that we share in common as human beings
and occupants of a single planet.
ENVIRONMENTAL FOCUS
Global stewardship is our overarching principle. It effectively links our international and environmental
emphasis and conveys all four of our core values: respect, responsibility, solutions and service. CIS
students learn to think and link globally by encouraging actual connections with other cultures; to act locally,
by encouraging solutions and service-oriented action; and impact globally, that through many local acts we
can impact the globe. Our eighty-two (82) acre campus affords our students the opportunity to engage with
beautiful scenery atop a hill overlooking vast expanses of greenery - within an urban zone. Beyond the
beauty, however, students have an opportunity to apply concepts and skills to attain greater understanding.
We have three (3) ponds, wooded areas, and access to a variety of insects and creatures. This allows for
unrivaled opportunities for observation, testing, and written description that cross all disciplines.
TECHNOLOGY
The 21st century is an age of technological innovation which results in schools addressing technology in the
context of global markets. CIS conducts teleconferencing for educational and social connection and
program partnerships. Classroom instruction has state of the art SMART boards and Mimio interactive
technology where instructional connections take place in all subject areas. CIS is a 1:1 laptop school, which
means that every student in grades 3 and above has a laptop computer. CIS also has a computer lab for
technology instruction.
ATHLETICS
Carolina International School hosts a variety of athletic programs throughout the year. Athletics provides
athletes with several benefits including the acquisition of valuable life skills that will benefit them throughout
their lives. These skills are more beneficial than the games themselves, and their impact can be powerful
and transcending. Some of these skills include: effort, hard-work, self-discipline, team work, and time
management. The current athletic programs that are offered throughout the school year are volleyball,
soccer, cross country, basketball, cheerleading, golf, and tennis. These offerings are amendable and based
on student interest from year to year.
FINE ARTS
Education in the arts is an integral part of the development of students. Fine Arts is essential to the
education process. Arts education refers to education in the disciplines of music, dance, theatre, and visual
arts. Study in the arts is integral to our society. Education and engagement in the visual and performing arts
are an essential part of the school curriculum and an important component in the educational program of
every student at Carolina International School. Study and participation in the fine arts is a key component in
improving learning throughout all academic areas. There exists abundant evidence of effectiveness in
raising student attendance, developing better team players, fostering a love for learning, improving greater
student dignity, enhancing student creativity, and producing a more prepared citizen for the workplace for
tomorrow. The fine arts also provide learners with non-academic benefits such as promoting self-esteem,
motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as
social harmony and appreciation of diversity. CIS offers students theater arts, music, and art classes.
