Student Interview Reflections

I really enjoyed interviewing my first grade students. Honestly I
wish the interview would have been on video. The children are so
comical. My initial intent was to only interview one child; but later
decided itd be a great reflection to interview at least one girl and one
boy. I wanted to see how their answers may or may not vary.
I thought the interview questions listed in the handbook were
great questions to ask older students; but not exactly what I felt was
suitable for my first graders. In my opinion the questions asked in my
interview were a great fit for first graders. I completed the interview
the first day of being in the classroom with the students. As I look
back, Im reminded that the students were still in the process of
getting to know me. However, we worked very well together and
completed the task at hand.
I feel much was accomplished as we interviewed together. It was
a great training tool for me. I learned a lot about my students
personalities and attitudes in such a short period of time. The children
in my class are very creative and love to express themselves. I am
guaranteed to hear a great story from either one of them when the
opportunity arises. All of the students in my class have confirmed my
love and dedication to teaching. My interview process with the two
children, along with all of the other students; have further confirmed
why I chose to become a teacher in the first place. They are an
awesome group and I love and enjoy my first grade class.
