ABSTRACT
Ore processing into dore bullion in PT Cibaliung Sumberdaya uses
cyanidation method, which in the recovery of gold and silver using a selective
chemical solvent. Gold processing process consists of two stages, namely
cyanidation units and recovery units. In this gold processing generates waste in
the form of wastewater, tailings and slag. Slag is a collection of metal impurities
which are formed because of the flux existence in the smelting process. This slag
still contains high enough gold and silver, therefore it was regularly fed back to
the cyanidation unit. The influence of slag addition into the ore cyanidation unit
on percent recovery of gold and silver was not known.
Purpose of this study was to determine the effect of slag into the ore on the
percent recovery of gold and silver in the cyanidation unit. The study was
conducted in laboratory scale using leaching process in the roll bottle method.
Slag and ore with a certain weight ratio inserted into the cyanide solution with a
ratio of 41% solids, 24-hour long of leaching process, and acidity and oxygen
content in the solution is kept constant. The results showed that the addition of
slag into the ore decrease the percent recovery of gold and silver. Moreover, the
addition of slag is also increase the gold and silver content in the tailing.
Optimum solvent concentration in the cyanide leaching process is 500 ppm.
