To Whom It May Concern:

Saraswoti Shinkle has asked me to write a letter of recommendation on her behalf as she applies for
secondary English Education teaching positions. I have known Swoti for the past year. During this
time I taught a General Methods class she was enrolled in. It is a pleasure to write a letter on her
behalf.
Swoti has many qualities that will be an asset to the teaching profession. She has been an excellent
student which is evidenced through her 3.56 GPA. She has a love for the English content and sharing
that content with others. In my class, Swoti was always well prepared, worked effectively in teams,
and was very respectful. The work she handed in was always high quality. I observed her classroom
teaching while she was completing her high school practicum and she was very well planned,
confident, and knowledgeable as well as enthusiastic about the students and the topic covered. During
her lesson she was very effective at utilizing technology to enhance instruction. By what I observed I
knew Swoti would be successful in student teaching and in a future teaching position.
As a teacher candidate in the Colorado State University educator preparation program, Swoti
accumulated approximately 800 hours of experience in public school classrooms. She was able to
experience multiple grade levels, diverse learner needs as well as become AVID tutor trained. In
addition to her required classroom experiences, she also gained teaching experience through a
university teaching assistant position, art teaching position, tutoring, and as a class volunteer. All these
experiences prove her commitment to working with children of all ages.
Swoti has gained additional skills that will benefit her as a future teacher. She competed, assisted and
judged Forensics, Speech and Debate and gained experience in Yearbook ELO through assisting
during student teaching. Additionally, she is a self-published author and poetry writer, has knowledge
of American Sign Language and prides herself in her strong technology skills.
The character and personality characteristics that I believe Swoti possesses that will help her to be a
successful teacher are her love of learning, professionalism, and excitement about teaching children of
all ages the English content. I recommend Swoti Shinkle for an English teaching position and would
welcome a call (970-491-5319) to answer any questions you might have.

Sincerely:

Dr. Dawn Mallette, Ph.D.
