Brochure
Description:This is a brochure to help those on campus who struggle
with mental health. This offers advice and support for those who
wants more information on these matters.
Program: I used photoshop to create my logo and InDesign to create
everything else.
Date Completed: Saturday, March 26, 2016
Course: COMM 130
Objectives: Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
Process: I started out by finding a background image I liked from a
website. I created the logo on the back in Photoshop. I searched and
selected a motivational quote. I then selected in background color
and font color. I then wrote the descriptions of what this organization was about in the paragraph sections. I added images last.
Montage
Description: A year ago one of my friends, Maddy, died. She was only 20
and was just out enjoying a pretty bike ride in Walla Walla, WA, when
we was hit by a car and pronounced dead several hours later. I made
this because she was a huge spiritual inspiration to me, and she loved
God fiercely. I gave it to her mom on the one-year anniversary.
Program: I used photoshop for this assignment.
Date Completed: February 13, 2016
Course: COMM 130
Objectives: Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks. Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with
multiple elements. Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image.
Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour
choice)
Process: I used alot of masks. I got this original pictures from her facebook, as well as the quote. I used about 5 different masks throughout
this project I believe. I chose a font that I thought looked dainty and
beautiful because that reflected maddy
Event Add
Description: I chose to make my flier for a Bridal Fair that would be coming to Rexburg and would be held in the BYUI Heart Gym. What better
place for a bridal fair than at a school that loves marriage?!
Program: Microsoft Word Publisher
Date Completed: January 31, 2016
Course: Comm 130
Objectives: Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Create a full-bleed design. Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that
work for your message and audience. Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.
Process: I went to a store and bought a wedding magazine. I selected a
picture I felt would be appropriate for a primarily lds town, and scanned
it into my computer. I placed the picture into the word document, selected
my color scheme and chose a font that I believed was wedding-appropriate.
Photo Design
Description: I took this picture up by the Rexburg Temple. I chose to use
a picture where the Temple is in the Foreground while a beautiful snowbrushed tree was the main focus.
Program: Photoshop
Date Completed February 8, 2016
Course: Comm 150
Objectives: Learn basic photography skills. Choose a color scheme, take
a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the
layout. Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate
layers for NDE (non-destructive editing.)
Process: I used basic Photoshop editing, such as levels, selective color
and vibrance to enhance the photo a little. The picture was taken on
my Cannon Rebel T5. I chose the color scheme Tetradic because I felt
matched the colors in the picture.
Flier
Description: This was a flier I created for a student leadership conference.
We were given the pictures and logo to use, as well as the text. It was our
job to create an appealing flyer with InDesign.
Program: InDesign
Date Completed: January 24, 2016
Course: COMM 150
Objectives: Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout. Retrieve image
and logo from links on this page.Create a project folder with image, logo
and InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.
Process: I started by carefully looking through all of my options for pictures and logos to find the ones that seemed to compliment each other
best. From there, I designed my flier in indesign and made sure all of my images and links were in the same folder on my desktop.

Logo
Description: I choose to create a logo for a bakery that would be spelled, Doonuts instead of doughnuts because the two donuts looked like os. This was a fun
logo to create.
Program: Illustrator
Date Completed: February 19, 2016
Course: comm 130
Objectives: Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or
personal image that will appeal to the audience. Do not imitate existing logos or
use previous designs.Market research: gather opinions from at least ten people
about which logo appeals most to them.Use only the Illustrator tools to create
and draw your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated flares, symbols, etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace it with
the pen/pencil, but delete the image before submitting.)Refine one logo with variations for color
Process: I used illustrator for this. I made one of the donuts and than just copied
and pasted the other one so I wouldnt have to worry about sizing and the sprinkles being different. For the rest, I just used various tools to create the smile and
the tongue.
Web Page
Description: made this webpage using the Photoshop, Illustrator, CSS
and HTML skills we have been using in class. I was provided with the basic
CCS and HTML but was then assigned to make it my own. This was a difficult assignment because I have had zero experience with coding.
Program: Text Wrangler, Illustrator
Date Completed: March 12, 2016
Course: COMM 130
Objectives: Size and optimize an original logo as a .png for a web page so
the long side is 300 500 pixels. Write content to describe the process of
creating your logo and how it appeals to a target audience. Acquire a
working knowledge of HTML. Identify hex colors to match logo, using
Photoshop color picker. Open the HTML page in a web browser and capture a quality screen shot.
Process: I originally used Illustrator to design my logo, and Photoshop
to resize it for the web. I then used an app called Text Wrangler to do all
of my coding.
Photography
Description: This semester I have been working on taking pictures and
editing them. Although I can use photoshop, I prefer to use Lightroom.
These are a selection of some of my favorite pictures I have taken or edited this semester.
Program: Lightroom
Date Completed: January-March of 2016
Objectives: When taking these pictures, I just wanted to gain more experience. I used my boyfriends family for some family pictures and a friend
who was going on her mission for the other. I really am happy with the
skills I feel I acquired while editing these photos, mainly when it came
to lighting and correcting acne and whitening teeth.
Process: I used all of the basic lighting edits as well as shadows, highlights, saturation, and contrast. I also used the blemish corrector and
teeth whitening as well as face brightener.
